Beauty Vixen

Another 10 I'm Tossing Post.
Wella Shimmer Delight - Shine Spray: I got this so long ago in a Glossy Box. I liked it quite a bit. Would I buy it again? No, I am using the silicone free shine spray from Pantene right now, it cost about $2 and is just as good.
Bath and Body Works Creamy Body WAsh in Butterfly Flower: I got this so long ago, back when the outlet first opened and Butterfly Flower was first discontinued. I really love the scent. I also really love butterflies (or papillons). The creamy formula is much nicer in the colder months than the regular clear body wash by them  Would I buy it again? Yes, but sadly the scent is no longer around and as for the creamy body wash, I never see it in the stores. Too bad.
Delon Green Apple Body Wash: I got this to refill my Lysol No-Touch Hand Soap System. I find the Lysol refills a rip off and just wasteful. Instead I usually buy econo refill hand soaps and top it off, but I was in a rush and went to my dollarma. All their hand soaps were made in China, but Delon products are made in Canada, so I opted for this body wash. I like the apple smell and it worked well. I got about 4 refills out of it.Would I buy it again?  Yes, I think for the $2 it worked well. I sometimes added a bit of dish soap to it, since it was just body wash and I felt it needed a bit  more cleaning ability.
Mark. Mist Opportunity: I've had this forever. I like it as a setting spray. Would I buy it again? No, it is discontinued, but I am also glad I've moved on to better things.
Almay Longwear and Waterproof Gentle Eyemakeup Remover:  I finally used this baby up. I really like how well it works to take all my eye makeup off without pulling or tugging. Would I buy it again?  Yes! I love this stuff!
Avon Ultra Color Rich White Gold Lipstick in Red Karat: Way back when I sold Avon, my coworker wanted this colour, she didn't like it so I ended up with it. It is a bright red with white gold flecks. It never really worked on me. Would I buy it again?  They don't make it anymore, but no.
Mark. Earth Perfume: Once again, back when I sold avon/mark I ordered this. While I liked it an used about 60% of it up I just don't wear it any more. It really smells like cucumbers. Would I buy it again?  They don't make it any more, but no.
Estee Lauder Cheek and Lip Palette:   This one is an oldie. I really don't know how long this has been hanging around in the back of my drawer. I believe I got this about 9 years ago. I used to use the blushes a lot. Would I buy it again?    I think every shade is discontinued. I do like the quality of the Estee Lauder blushes and would consider buying them again.
Cargo Lip gloss in Ecuador: This gloss is old! Oh my I should have tossed it a long long time ago. I got it as a gwp when I got a bunch of Cargo back in 2010. While I love the shade, it is time to say goodbye. Would I buy it again?  They don't make it anymore, but actually I would love to buy it again
Makeup Forever HD Loose Setting Powder: I finally used something up that is makeup! I used this mini HD powder up. I like it for under eye setting and light dusting. A little goes a long long way so it took a while to get though a jar even if it was little. Would I buy it again?  YES, I have another one that is the same size that I am currently working on

Getting my makeup done quick and easily in the mornings can sometimes be a challenge. Even worse is the times when you want to go out, look a little bit more done up and don't have the time. Well right here I am going to show you a look that takes no time at all, is bronzy and slightly glittery and chalked full of drug store makeup.
First let me explain why this is such a quick look...the Annabelle Roll-on Eyeshadow + Liner in Hazel...that's why. One side has a roll on glittery bronze shadow the other a glittery bronze liner. They fit in your bag easily so you can go from work to night easy and quick. I just like to put a glitter primer under it first.  After that it is smooth sailing.

Product used:
  • Almay Smart Shade Skintone Matching Makeup in Light
  • Almay Smart Shade Powder Bronzer in Sunkissed
  • Almay Smart Shade Concealer in light
  • Annabelle Eyeshadow + Liner in Hazel
  • Annabelle TwistUp in Nude of Fame
  • Annabelle Skinny Brow Liner in Universal Light
  • Annabelle Expandible Mascara
  • Makeup Forever HD Powder
  • ELF Glitter Primer
  • Rimmel Scandaleyes in Nude
How I did it:

Primed my eyes with the ELF Glitter Primer by patting it all over the lids. Rolled on the Eyeshadow half of the Annabelle Hazel. Took a fluffy brush and blended just the edges of the shadow. Took the liner side and drew on some wings.
I then took the Almay Smart Shade foundation and applied it randomly to the skin. Taking a short stipple brush (like Mac 130) I blend it out. I really like this foundation for quick makeup because it always matches me perfectly. They say it isn't just shade adjusting but also tone adjusting which is great for me since I can be pretty neutral in the tone department, making buying two foundations a common occurrence. Oh and it always looks really good on my skin. I then touch up areas with Almay Smart Shade Concealer where needed followed by the MUFE HD powder to set it all.
Now I love a good bronzy look, but bronzer and me are not friends...see I don't tan so there is really no shade that really looks right on me (cause I don't that, I'm not explaining this very well. I burn, burnt isn't a shade of bronzer, nor does it look good...oh forget it) so I like using it as a blush sometimes.I took Almay Smart Shade Bronzer and used it on my cheeks like blush and used any excess too buff out on my skin to attempt a bit of a bronzy look.
I filled in my brows with the Annabelle liner and coated my lashes with the mascara. I lined my water line with my absolute favourite nude liner by Rimmel. Applied the Annabelle TwistUp and was done. Twistups are fantastic because they are liner and lipstick on one, leading to easier application and a precision look on the go ( I guess that is why I now own 29 of them).
There that was quick and easy.  A little glitzy but not over the top...an easy way to get from day to night in no time flat.

I hope this holiday season has been treating you well. While I was one of many in Toronto and the surrounding areas to get their power knocked out from the ice storm, I was also lucky to have loved ones who offered us a warm place to stay. Once we got our power back (well then our landlords cut the heat off without telling us, so it took another day to get warm) we had a fantastic Christmas. I got spoiled with gifts of all types, but I thought I would share with all of you some of my beauty and other items I got. I also went Boxing Week shopping and went a little nuts, so there is lots of that here too.
Marcelle Cosmetics sent me and many other bloggers a fantastic holiday treat. I have been wanting to try out their CC cream for a long time and cannot wait to start using it. I also got a Bronzer Quad and a Pressed Powder Quad, Waterproof Mascara Top Coat, New Age 8-in-1 Power Serum and their Double Precision Liquid Eyeliner.  Thanks so much Marcelle, I cannot wait to start trying these out.
A customer of mine gave me these great Bath and Body Works items. I love each smell so much and cannot wait to use the body scrub. Warm Vanilla Sugar Body Wash, Stress Relief Bath Salts, Tangerines Body Wash and White citrus Body Scrub.

Another customer gave me this great Holts bag filled with goodies.
There is a larger and smaller bag and a bunch of interesting samples.
Now on to Boxing Week. I went to Davids Tea and saw they had a little box with a little tin of Cream of Earl Gray for $5. It is meant for putting a gift card in. I just got it without the gift card for the hubby since he loves Earl Gray teas.
I also went to Teavana and got the Holiday Favourites tea set, it was 30% off. It contains White Chocolate Peppermint, Pumpkin Spice Brûlée, Spiced Apple Cider, and Orange Chocolate Sweet Spice. I am in love wight eh White Chocolate Peppermint Tea!
Chapters had a holiday clear out sale on Boxing Week, I saw this fox candle...it was $5. I just need to find a spot to put it once our holiday decorations are put away.
My Shoppers that normally does not carry any Essence had a display for the Justin Bieber collection. I snagged a bunch of items. Shimmer Powder in 'Swaaaag!', eyeshadow in 'I'm Backstage', lipgloss in 'I'm Backstage', and a blush in 'Groupie at Heart'. I picked up the most interesting shades, I am very excited for the red red blush and shimmer powder.
I went to Sephora with Jenn from Scarlet Beauty and saw a bunch of great deals, mainly on Cake. I also did an online order, so I have to remember to add those when they arrive.
I got the Cake Deep Affection set which contains Heavy Cream for hands and body. It was $19 I believe.
I also got their Vanilla Cashmere Veleteen Hand Cream for $9
I also got Cakes After Dark Set. I believe it was $15, I cannot find the receipt and Sephora doesn't list Cake on their site.
It has a large shaker of their day Shampoo and Body Powder, a tin of their Stain Sugar Dry Shampoo and Milk Made hand cream.
I picked ups  Caudalie Dry Skin Set, it was $12.
It has their Gentle cleansing Milk, Moisture Recovery Cream, Hand and Nail Cream and Nourishing Body Lotion. I think I may give this to a friend next week for her birthday.
I picked up Amazing Grace Body Wash for $12.
I also got some Makeup Forever Aqua Shadow Duos. These were also available during Black Friday but I missed out on them. They were $12 for the set.
Oh my there we go. Lots of goodies. Did you get anything amazing during the holiday season ?

Another month, another big batch of empties. Woo, I'm feeling good about his purge.
Let is see what is in my outgoing empties mail bin.
Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips custom Eye Enhancing Mascara Duo in Green Eyes (black side): So I've had this forever, but I use disposable wands with the green side, which is why I got it in the first place. I was sick of having the black hang around when I never used it. So I FINALLY (been trying forever) popped it off, leaving me with the green side. Would I buy it again? Yes, I like these mascaras and they have such strong coloured sides, the black is great too, I just couldn't justify having that part around any longer.
Marcelle BB Cream in light: I love this product and used every drop of it up. Would I buy it again? YES! I've got the SPF version on the go right now.
Bourjois Volumizer Mascara: This is a double wand mascara. Would I buy it again? No I like the rimmel version better.
ELF Studio Mist & Set: A finishing spray from elf Would I buy it again?  No, I like the bottle, sprayer and the product better in the ELF Mineral line better.
Mary Kay Satin Hands Smoothie Hand Scrub in Peach:  I love this stuff, it lasts forever. Would I buy it again? Yes! I have big pump of it in my washroom right now.
Joe Fresh Nail Polish Remover in Regular: I got this for the pump Would I buy it again?  No,  I need full acetone, I cannot bother with anything less.
The Body Shop Natrulift Serum: I love this stuff so much it isn't even funny  Would I buy it again? Yes, but I bought the VIT C version and I need to use it up (BTW I am hating the smell of the Vit C line).
ELF Studio Lotioin Wipes in Vanilla and Coconut:  I love these in the summer for fast moisture Would I buy it again? Maybe, they dried out really fast.

So that is what fit into my mail box, but wait there is more in a bin.
So these are three perfumes I just never ever wore and am choosing to toss or give to someone, or ditch in the buildings laundry room (it is where you put crap for people to take, ex. VHS tapes, old books, CDs).
Avon Ungaro, Avon Make Me Smile abd Nina Ricci  L'air.
John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Conditioner: oh my lordy, another one of these.  Would I buy it again? NO!!!! How many of these did I buy when they were at dollarama? What's that? I'm on the last one, it is almost gone. WOOO!
Nexxus Conditioner: I got this in a GlossyBox Would I buy it again? maybe, I did like it a lot.
Makeup Forever HD Elixir: I love this stuff Would I buy it again? Already onto a new bottle.
Constant Beauty Foaming Face Wash I never really liked self foaming washes  Would I buy it again? No.
EOS Lip Balm in Honeysuckle: I hate this stuff, over rated and waxy.  Would I buy it again? No.
M. Asad Magic Fini: I got this in a glymm box and I got two somehow. Would I buy it again? Maybe, I do like it.
ELF Studio Complexion Perfecter Powder:  I actually really like this powder, I hit the pan and only a bit remains Would I buy it again? YEs, I have another one and one in warm that I plan on opening up.

I searched though my collection and found my old Prestige Let Loose! Shimmering Shadow Dust in Celebrate Bronze. It is a great bronze colour with shimmer to it. I never have been amazing with loose products...but now I have developed a bit more of a knack for it, so when I saw it I thought it was time for another shot at it.

It is one of those little tubes with a domed sponge applicator and powder in the base.  Not my favourite packaging but good for travel and great for packing on the product.

So how I got it to work with zero fallout and to last all day on a summer day? Well my new best friend, Makeup Forever Eye Seal, that's how!
I put a drop of Eye Seal on my hand and put the dust jar upside-down and tapped some onto my hand. Mixed them together. Then I patted it on my eye lid. Super pigmented and gorgeous. I remember why I fell in love with this shadow. So pretty.

I worked a makeup job all day (airbrushing tattoos at a party) and then went to my inlaws. All in all it was a 18 hour day in the heat. When I got home it was just as perfect as when I left.

Eye Seal has been designed to waterproof all powdery make-up and pencils. It intensifies make-up colors and pearl effects.
Its alcohol-free formula does not irritate the skin and can be applied close to the eye.
How to Use: Pour a few drops of Eye Seal in the bottle lid. Dip a fine brush in the product and mix with different textures (Eye shadow, Star Powder, Glitter, Cake Eyeliner, etc.).To waterproof a regular eye pencil, apply the pencil as you usually would and apply Eye Seal over it. Wash the brush with clean water after each use. -makeupforever.com
I picked up one of these little babies a while back. While it is small a little goes a long way.

The instructions on the box say to put it over power shadow to seal it in. Unfortunately for me I only seem to mess up my liner when doing this.

Fortunately I realized mixing loose shadows, piments and minerals with it works amazingly well to create a crazy waterproof line. I've also tried wetting my brush with the eye seal and then putting it into shadow and got the same amazing results. I've even mixed liquid liner with it and seen great things.

This makes makeup stay put! All day! Even in the humid summer! Really!!! Really!

I don't think I could live without this stuff anymore.

The bottle is little but one drop per eye is all you need so it will last you months and months.

I was told at a MUFE seminar that you can put it on top of any product to make it waterproof, even mascara. I have yet to try this, but I am going to take their word for it.

If I say something is waterproof I mean it. If I can put something on in the AM on a work day and it is even slightly there at the end of it then it is good. If it looks like it did first thing in the morning at the end of the day then it is amazing. This is amazing.

Pros:
works really really well
easy to use
mixes well with loose products (pigments, micas, loose shadows)
mixes well with liquid liners
little goes a long way
can make just about anything in your collection waterproof (therefor giving it new uses)

Cons:
putting it over powder can be messy
small bottle
a bit expensive for a bottle

Overall:
If you are a fan of anything in the aqua line from Makeup Forever you are going to love this beyond belief. If you want something that really works, give this a shot.

Extra note:
I used my hand as a quick palette one day to mix eye seal and my Hard Candy Walk the Line liquid liner. It stayed on my hand for 3 days. I washed about 15 dogs the first day and my hands about 100 times. I was shocked that it was still there all those days later.

A little while back I got a Makeup Forever Magnetic Palette. It held a lot of my mac shadows but not all of them. I was ok with that, but the Mac shadows didn't stick to it too well. Most of them would pop up.

I quickly realized my MUFE shadows stuck better but not at all to a Mac palette.

So my conclusion....opposite magnitivity.

I made this video that explains it a bit better.

On further realization I learned magnets stick to tins (or metal) and tins (or metal) stick to magnets. That meaning that tins without magnets on the back (empty tins, mufe, mark, or anything else depotted) will stick to a magnet (any magnet) and those with a magnet will stick to tin (think pencil tin or altoids).

Let me explain better.

A mac palette has a tin strip on it, and the shadows have magnets so they stick well together. A MUFE shadow has tin and the palette has a magnet so it works well together. In fact a mufe and mac will stick together.
a mark tin sticking to a mac pro pan (with magnet)
Tins holding magnetic pans
So I am using a pencil set tin as my shadow palette, a good travel palette is an altoids tin.
my pencil tin with zebra duct tape sheet on it
inside the pencil tin
Altoids mint tin holding magnetic backed pans
So I am a little baffled and I hope my new z-palette that is on its way to me has a strong hold for things with magnets on the back. As I understand it right now things right now, palettes with magnets don't hold magnet backed pans to well, but we will see.
