Beauty Vixen

I haven't done an empties post forever, but I was tidying up and tossing a few things, so I may as well do a post.

Hubby stuff...
The hubs tend to use up his face washes the quickest.

Mary Kay Foaming Beard Wash
This foaming was in the shower for a while, but he liked both the scent and the fact it was foaming. He requested more, but it was a limited edition, so instead he is going to be using a few Jack Black beard wash samples I received.

L’Oréal Paris Men Expert Pure Power, Anti-Imperfection Scrub, Exfoliating Face Cleanser With Salicylic Acid
This wash has exfoliating beads and salicylic acid in it, which is great for his acne-prone skin. He liked it a lot, but we are moving back to PanOxyl for a while, it really is the best for his acne.

My Stuff...
Sol De Jannero 62 Body Fragrance Mist
I got a mini of Sol de Janeiro 62 and then a set with 4 that also included it. It was then I put a focus on using it up. I'm actually shocked I did, I like the scent and will keep on using the next bottle.

Bathorium Crush Bath Soak Northern Sage Recovery
I'm a big fan or Bathorium and this tiny pack didn't take too long to use up. I have a few more of their larger packs to use up, and I'm going to work on that the next few weeks.

Pantene Miracle Intense Rescue Shots Dry Hair Treatment
I buy 4 packs of these minis when they go on sale. They're pretty good shots of concentrated hair masks. I used two this round,
Pure Standard Products Epsom Salts
As much as I love other bath products, I always have a 5kg tub of this stuff from Costco around. I usually use one up every 3 weeks or so. I do mix it into other products, it lets me stretch other products out.

Teas..
Teas aren't something I use up quickly but do have a lot of. Last week I was shocked to learn when I decided to make an Excel sheet of all my teas and realized I used some up.

Tazo Passion (Herbal Tea)
Passion is the original tea used in Starbucks passion tea. I have a backup box, so I won't be buying another

Tazo Wild Sweet Orange (Herbal Tea)
Sweet orange I picked up in the US last fall and really fell in love with. It is naturally sweet and smells just like oranges. If you are a fan of mulled apple-type teas and like oranges, I think this one is worth trying. Lucky for me, it is now in Canada and I can get a box just about anywhere. I am going to wait until the new year to get another box in an attempt to use up some of my other ones.

Teavana Darjeeling.
I got this when Teavana was still around. I used to use my star rewards from Starbucks on ounces of tea. I have so many black Teas I forgot about it. When I was making a tea spreadsheet I found it and decided to use it up.

That's it for empties. Hopefully, I do another post at the end of the year.

From time to time, I use up a bunch of stuff, get tired of the packaging hanging around and do an empties post. Now is that time.

Up & Up Sport Sunscreen Stick

My mom brought me three of these a few years back. I really like them for travel or for touch ups on a day out. I first heard about it when my friend Melissa blogged about it. I really love them, unfortunately they expired on me, so what is left is going into my recycling pile.

Saje Well-Being Balancing Diffuser Blend

I got a set of Saje oils a long time ago. This has been a long time coming in the using it up department. I recently got a diffuser for my office and since I started online classes, I managed to use this up in the first few days. I liked it a lot but I have a lot of oils to use up. Plus, they stopped selling this scent.

Farmx Super Greens Cooling Gel

I got this sample size and two more, from Topbox to try out. I liked it a lot. I kept this one at work because it was tiny and made sense. I am still working on the other two, but it has been fantastic.

Trader Joe’s Hydrating Gel Moisturizer

I got this a long time ago, and well, I love it. It is everything everyone ever says about it. When I went to Buffalo and visited Trader Joe’s, I got a lot of skin care, but they were out of this. Lucky for me I have a backup.

Mary Kay Lash Love Waterproof Mascara

I love a good waterproof mascara. I usually stick to drug store, but I got this one to try out and I loved it. I love it so much. It meets all my needs for not smudging and keeping my lashes looking dark and full. I would buy it again in an instant.

L’Oréal Brow Stylist Definer

I got this a long time ago, and it is fantastic. I can’t believe I actually used up an entire brow product. It had a super fine tip as well as a great little brow brush. Highly recommend.

Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle Body Wash

This one seems to also have a cult following. I strangely enough love the bottle; it has a great squeeze to it and a cap that lets the right amount out. The formula is gel like and lathers fantastically. I have a backup and just got the shampoo and conditioner, so I am pretty happy that I’ll get to try them out soon.

The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous cleansing Butter

This is a fantastic cleansing balm. I used all of it up, which is kind of impressive, and I have a brand-new tin to start. I genuinely love this cleansing balm, and I love a lot of cleansing balms. I also love this comes in a tin and is plastic free.

St. Ive's Energizing Body Wash - Citrus & Cherry Blossom

This was Mr. Fox's. He goes through a lot of body wash, so he used it up pretty fast. He seemed to like it ok but hasn't repurchased it. I think he got it as an attempt to find a drug store dupe for TBS Satsuma body wash. I liked the smell and saw at the drug store for $4.99 the other day, so I would consider buying it for him.

Irish Spring Moisturizing Face + Body Wash - Moisture Blast

I got sent a similar one a few years back for review, he still likes the brand and buys it a few times a year. He says it cleans well and doesn't dry him out.

Garnier Fructis - Pure Clean - Shampoo

This is a silicone free shampoo for those with normal to oily hair. Mr. Fox once again used this and not me. He didn't rebuy it, but did seem to like it

So there you go, a pile of stuff I will be recycling. If you are looking for where to recycle your empty beauty products in Canada, check out my post on the topic here.

My empties
Empties. 😊
I haven't done an empties post in forever , but I had a little pile and thought 'why not?'.

I recently did a post on where to recycle your beauty containers, so go look at that. Let's look at what I've used up.
bathorium hinoki cypress magnesium flake bath soak
Bathorium Hinoki Cypress Magnesium Flake Bath Soak
Ohhh...I love this. This is the best cold day Bath Soak ever. When it's cold, when my muscles hurt, I reach for this. There is nothing else like it and I am so sad I'm out. I am 100% going to go buy another bag as soon as there is a sale (I saw it at The Bay and Whole Foods, but their website always has sales so I have to sort out where I'm going to buy it from).
Nudestix foundation
Nudestix Nudetint
I got this last tear at their pop up sale. Never has a foundation matched my skin so perfectly, which is probably why I used it up so fast.  I usually swipe it where needed after my skin care routine.  I very much like that formula. I wish it was a fatter more all over stick so I don't fly through it so fast.
Trader Joe's Moisturizer
Trader Joe's Enrich Moisturizing Face Lotion
I have been trying to use this up for a while, and am glad I finally have. I have whole other bottle of it, so I will be starting it now. It is quite a nice light face lotion, I assume it is a dupe for Olay's Complete Daily Moisturizer.
The Body Shop shea body wash
The Body Shop Shea Shower Cream
I gave this to Mr. Fox to use up. He uses up body washes quickly and this was no exception. The Body Shop always makes great body washes, my personal favourite is Satsuma, which I just ordered more of.
Tarte birthday suit
Tarte Birthday Suit Tartest Lip Paint
I got this as a mini a few years back for my birthday from Sephora. I found it in my drawer completely dried up. I did buy a full size few years back. I do not think Tarte still makes these lipsticks at all.
the inkey list shea oil hair treatment
The Inkey List Shea Oil Nourishing Hair Treatment
I ordered a whole pile of The Inkey List hair items when they first launched. I like the thinness of this oil, it feels nice on the hair and absorbs easily. I do not like how wide the opening of the cap is, it makes the product flow out too fast and you just end up wasting product. I also don't love the scent of it, I realize it is pure shea oil, but it smells horribly synthetic. Also my community doesn't recycle black plastic, so I have to take this to get recycled.
more empties
Bath and Body Works At The Beach Perfume Spray
I got this mini spray a long time ago, I really liked the scent and am kind of surprised I actually used it up. It is a great summer scent and I liked that it was a spray and not a roll-on.

Benefit They're Real Mascara
It was time to toss this one, it was good but I don't think it was as good as everyone was saying it was. I don't think for the cost I would rebuy it.

Estee Lauder Little Black Primer
I have rebought this black waterproof lash primer many times over the years. I really like it as a waterproof mascara, I don't think I every really use it as a prime. I don't think I will be rebuying it though as it is kind of pricy.

Joe Fresh Face Wipes
I found these dried out in a drawer. As Loblaws discontinued the entire Joe Fresh makeup line these were pretty old, I  just didn't know they were there. There is no where to recycle empty wipe containers in Canada from what I can tell.

That is everything I used up recently. I am actually impressed that I used so many things up. I am going to try my best to recycle everything I can. Check out my post on recycling beauty products in Canada, here.

I've been busy using up more products. This always makes me so happy to  know that I actually used up some stuff.

First off I went to Mexico (the same place we went in this vacation here) for my brothers wedding. The hubby and I used a lot of sunscreen in just a few days. I mean a lot! We used up two brand new cans of spray sunscreen and just had enough for the last day. What makes this even more shocking is we wore rashgaurds (t-shirts) most of the time that we swam so we didn't even really need it on our backs.

Just a little bit more background for you, my hubby is a ginger and I am person who gets sun hives (with or without sun protection), so we get the highest SPF we can for added protection. I also know people just don't apply as much sunscreen as they should for proper coverage, my method to combat this is to buy a higher spf, its crazy and most likely doesn't work, but I feel better and end up with less hives. Last time we went we burned really bad swimming so were trying hard not to repeat that mistake.
L'oreal Quick Dry Sheer Spray 50 SPF: Last year I was sent the 30 SPF version of this and liked it so much that when it came time to buy sunscreen for this trip we opted to grab the 50 SPF version (it was on sale for about $9 so I was happy). I highly recommend it. Would I buy it again? Yes, but for now I have quite a few other sunscreens I must try to use up before they go bad.
Banana Boat Kids Tear-Free UltraMist Sunscreen Spray in 60 SPF: This is supposed to be UltraMist (like a thing they invented I guess) but went on in a stream. It works well in a few ways because it makes it easy to see and rub around, but doesn't go on in anything resembling a mist. I screamed every time the put it on my back because it was so cold and in a stream Would I buy it again? Truth be told it works well, I think we just got a defective can, so yes I would try it again. PS we got kids incase we needed it for our nieces who were traveling with us on the trip.
Bath and Body Works Oahu Coconut Sunset Body Wash: I wanted to get a travel bottle of the BBW Waikiki Beach Coconut body wash, but my store was out of it. I got this instead. I liked the smell a lot and it did a good job of washing away all the sunscreen at the end of a day in Mexico. I used it all up before we left because the hubby ran out of his body wash on day 4 or 5. Would I buy it again? No, while I like the smell I like some of the other ones from the collection much more and would get them instead.
L'oreal Casting Step 3 (Conditioner): I coloured my hair using L'oreal Casting right before leaving, I packed up a refillable bottle with Palmer's Olive Oil Conditioner and I brought this baby along for the ride. Both were used up at the end of the week. Would I buy it again? While not something you can go out and get on its own, I really did like it, it's a nice hair mask.
Moving along to non trip items...
Joe Fresh Pop Goss: I got this back in 2011 when I won a contest, so it is old now and needed to go. Would I buy it again? Yes, it was a sheer lip gloss with an iridescence to it that I liked. I don't think they sell it anymore though.
Elf Studio Exact Lash Mascara: I've gotten so many of these over the last year and a half, I really like the tiny wand for lower lashes and tightening lashes. It also is crazy waterproof ( a big deal for me). But like all Elf mascaras they dry up almost right away into a hard mess. This was this mascara's fate. Would I buy it again? Yes, I still have more though. I will find a way to stop it from drying up.
ELF Lip Stain:  I've had this forever, it sort of is just too old to keep, and dried up. Would I buy it again? I would, which is strange for me to say. I like stains when doing bold lips, it gives them longer staying power.
VitaBath Original Spring Green Body Lotion:  I got this in a glossy box. I used it up just a little while ago. It has that classic Vita Bath smell I remember from growing up. My mom used Vita Bath quite a bit when I lived with her. It is a very strong scented lotion, but it really is nice. Would I buy it again?Maybe. I liked this size for in my purse and using on my hands and arms when out an about. I have so many creams I doubt I'll ever need to buy more.
Bioré Acnre Cleansing Scrub: I got this in a bag from an event I attended. The hubby used it in the shower.  Would I buy it again? Not for a long time. I am trying to get the hubby to use up other acne /oil skin care cleansers that I have been given in an attempt not to waist them. He did say he liked it, so if he requests it I would pick him up one.
Biore Combination Balancing Cleanser: I got this for the hubby after he used up the first one I got at the Biore Girls Night In Event I hosted in 2011. He seems to like it quite a bit. Would I buy it again?  Maybe, he seems to have moved on to Marcelle Ultra Gentle Cleansing Gel and loves it a lot.

There we go, another 10 down in my quest to record what I toss. Have you tossed anything lately?

Yes another round of stuff I've used up or I am tossing. Woot woot. Yes I get excited when I toss stuff, because it is out of my life forever and that is a good thing when you live in a 1 bedroom apartment.

Let's get started
Glossybox lashes: I got these in a  glossybox, way way back when (not even going to bother looking up a link to it for you, not worth the effort). These have a thick thick band, so I never wore them. Not once, I'm sure they would have been difficult to use with such a thick band.

Boujois Healthy Mix Serium Foundation in 51: I got this about 2 years ago and I actually used it up. I am super excited that I actually used a fluid foundation. Would I buy it again? Yes. It was a nice foundation that matched my skin really well

Makeup Forever Mist and Fix:  I feel like I had this forever and ever. I liked it as a spray to get rid of powder on my finished face but I just wasn't sure about it fixing properties. It smelled nice and felt good on the skin though. Would I buy it again?  I heard they re did this product and it is much better now (not that I thought it was bad before ) so I probably will buy it again at sometime, for now I am trying out the new smash box primer spray that also is a fixer.

ELF Studio Primer with spf: This was supposed to be limited edition when I ordered it, but it is still on the site. I honestly popped it into a tube that was 8ml so that I could get rid of the bulky packaging. I have yet to really give it a go.. Would I buy it again? Maybe, I like the idea of spf in my primer and that it is so cheap.

Elf Studio Poreless Primer: I got this before the spf version and also stuck it in a tube. I am glad I did, it is so much less bulk. I like this one, while I don't have oily skin, I do like the idea of minimizing what pores I do have and giving my slightly oily areas a bit more oil protection Would I buy it again? No, I think I would just stick with my regular versions or the spf or hydrating.

In case you haven't seen how much spare packaging an elf primer has (it is a thing elf does to make their products seem much bigger than they are, which is just wasteful) here is a link to a empties post where I put some other primers in tubs and took apart all the wasteful plastic.

The Body Shop Moisture It Primer: This was an ok primer. It always seemed runny and that  I would waist a lot as a result. It also never felt like a real primer to me. Since I'm being really honest, it was also small. I just feel it didn't live up to The Body Shop name. Luckily I think I got it on the cheap with a 3 for $30 deal or something like that. Would I buy it again? Nope, no no no.

Almay Intense I-Color Eyeliner in amethyst: This is old, really old. The packaging has since changed, and a long time ago. So I must say goodbye to this well loved liner. I used to wear this almost everyday.  Would I buy it again? Yes, I would, I will....must wait for a sale. Getting nervous that I don't have it now and want it.

Laura Mercier Secret Brighting Powder: I've had this for a while, I got it with some type of gift bag with purchase. I used it all up so I am happy about that. It was great for finishing my makeup and not changing the colour of anything like blush. Would I buy it again? I would, but for right now I am finishing up a MUFE HD powder.

NYX Loose Powder Shadow in Charcoal Pearl: Oh my I had this a while. I forgot I had it. Oh here it is way back when  I hauled it, I meant to grab another colour and made a mistake. That being said I never used any of those, what the heck did I do with all of them? Ok So I never used it, so it's getting tossed. Would I buy it again? Never used it, so no.

NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil in 724 Chaos:  I buy things and think they will look good on me, and never end up wearing them. This is one of those cases. While I like the product, the texture is a bit thick, I just don't reach for it Would  I buy it again? No. I never wore it.

Ok, so there was another round of 10 I'm tossing. I actually used up a foundation, a mini powder and a setting powder. I feel accomplished this round.

Have you tossed anything lately?

10 more items to throw out. Woot.
A Schick Razor: Not sure what one this was now, but it did the job, it was definitely meant for a man though. Would I buy it again? Maybe, I really am not too picky with my razors but do prefer Schick as a brand.

Boreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream: This is a BB cream that self adjusts, it looks white with little beads when you squeeze it out. After you rub it a bit it changes colour. I loved it, but sadly I had it forever and there wasn't much left. Would I buy it again? Yes, I would it really worked well when I wanted a lighter feeling BB cream.

NYX Lip Crayon in Hot Red: I got this back at IMATS 2010! It needed to be tossed since I never wore it anymore. The bottom cap also went missing. Would I buy it again? No, I just never wore it although I have no reason to dislike it.

Spear Lip and Cheek Stain: I loved this stain, I loved it so much it was in my The Perfect Red Lip Deconstructed post. I really still do love it. Sadly Sephora got rid of it and this one kind of has seen better days (it went kind of liquid). Would I buy it again? Heck Yes! Sephroa bring this baby back!

Benefit Some-Kind-Of-Gorgous: This is the original shade of this fantastic cream to powder, colour adapting foundation. I love it so much I used all of it up. Would I buy it again? I would, and I have! I have a light and another original on the go right now. I like to blend the two.
Life Brand Baby Wipes: I had two of these on the go, one is natural one and one is a regular an unscented. I always end up leaving the lid off these type of things so they dried up and needed to be tossed. I must say they come in really handy if you are a blogger, wether it is wiping you hands after touching a product, wiping the product for fingerprints or just wiping your counter down quick it is great. Would I buy it again? Yes, for the $2.99 I spent yes. But right now I am using Huggies and in a refillable plastic container in hopes I can remember to shut it.

Olay Advanced Cleaning System: I got this a while back and liked it quite a bit. I mean I liked it a lot. Recently I got a Clairsonic Mia 2 and well this baby got the toss. I still think it is a good product, it works in the shower and generally is fantastic....but a clairsonic is just the best thing ever.  Would I buy it again? I would buy it as a gift for someone.

Kett Set Powder: Oh how I loved this powder. Once upon a time it was my holly grain powder and I never used anything else. I would use one up every year. I even proclaimed it a kit must have. Now I have more powders than I can keep track of. I did use this one up, there is only a fine ring left and the lid is broken off...proving I still love it. Would I buy it again?  Yes, I will get another one at IMATS this year for sure.

Essence Brow and Lash Clear Gel: Sometimes you need a clear brow gel, some times they get gross from brow pencils/powders and need to be tossed. This one is great and cheap so you don't feel bad when it comes time to toss it. Would I buy it again?  YEs, but for now I am using Wet n' Wilds' version (and I like it too).

That is all folks, another 10 that I have tossed, I feel good. Have you tossed anything lately?
