Beauty Vixen

When something new and really different comes along I can't help but get excited. Olay recently launched their new Whips line or moisturizers. Available in three of their most popular lines, Regenerist, Total Effects and Luminous, they offer all the benefits of their lines with the added bonus of being super light.
What makes Whips so light and well, Whipped? A whole bunch of technology I don't fully grasp,
but essentially all the moisture you usually get in a moisturizer is locked with air into a formula that is light but holds 1000x its weight in moisture. Then when it makes contact with your skin it releases all that moisture and transforms into a liquid. Neat right? Light weight but heavy on the moisture, what I have always dreamed of.

Here is why I actually really like this product. I have dry skin, and Olay Whips delivers moisture, serious moisture, without the need for me to pile on thick and heavy cream. Normally I have to put a pretty thick lay or cream on to get my face hydrated enough, and then wait, and wait for it to sink in. Now its a lot quicker I just put a tiny amount on my face and rub in, done.
You can feel on your skin that it is far more hydrating then you would think for its texture and weight, which is good thing. Plus I love the 25 SPF version in the mornings, it saves me one extra step and helps me get going all that much faster while still keeping my face feeling light. It really is perfect for the upcoming warmer months where I just end up sweating too much if I put a heavy product on my face.

The Regenerist line is for those that feel their skin is looking a bit older then it should, essentially tired skin. It helps fight wrinkles and the effects of aging. Which I honestly think is for me in my mid-late 30's. Luminous is all about helping you get glowing skin without the shine. Total Effects is about nourishing your skin the best you can.

10 more items to throw out. Woot.
A Schick Razor: Not sure what one this was now, but it did the job, it was definitely meant for a man though. Would I buy it again? Maybe, I really am not too picky with my razors but do prefer Schick as a brand.

Boreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream: This is a BB cream that self adjusts, it looks white with little beads when you squeeze it out. After you rub it a bit it changes colour. I loved it, but sadly I had it forever and there wasn't much left. Would I buy it again? Yes, I would it really worked well when I wanted a lighter feeling BB cream.

NYX Lip Crayon in Hot Red: I got this back at IMATS 2010! It needed to be tossed since I never wore it anymore. The bottom cap also went missing. Would I buy it again? No, I just never wore it although I have no reason to dislike it.

Spear Lip and Cheek Stain: I loved this stain, I loved it so much it was in my The Perfect Red Lip Deconstructed post. I really still do love it. Sadly Sephora got rid of it and this one kind of has seen better days (it went kind of liquid). Would I buy it again? Heck Yes! Sephroa bring this baby back!

Benefit Some-Kind-Of-Gorgous: This is the original shade of this fantastic cream to powder, colour adapting foundation. I love it so much I used all of it up. Would I buy it again? I would, and I have! I have a light and another original on the go right now. I like to blend the two.
Life Brand Baby Wipes: I had two of these on the go, one is natural one and one is a regular an unscented. I always end up leaving the lid off these type of things so they dried up and needed to be tossed. I must say they come in really handy if you are a blogger, wether it is wiping you hands after touching a product, wiping the product for fingerprints or just wiping your counter down quick it is great. Would I buy it again? Yes, for the $2.99 I spent yes. But right now I am using Huggies and in a refillable plastic container in hopes I can remember to shut it.

Olay Advanced Cleaning System: I got this a while back and liked it quite a bit. I mean I liked it a lot. Recently I got a Clairsonic Mia 2 and well this baby got the toss. I still think it is a good product, it works in the shower and generally is fantastic....but a clairsonic is just the best thing ever.  Would I buy it again? I would buy it as a gift for someone.

Kett Set Powder: Oh how I loved this powder. Once upon a time it was my holly grain powder and I never used anything else. I would use one up every year. I even proclaimed it a kit must have. Now I have more powders than I can keep track of. I did use this one up, there is only a fine ring left and the lid is broken off...proving I still love it. Would I buy it again?  Yes, I will get another one at IMATS this year for sure.

Essence Brow and Lash Clear Gel: Sometimes you need a clear brow gel, some times they get gross from brow pencils/powders and need to be tossed. This one is great and cheap so you don't feel bad when it comes time to toss it. Would I buy it again?  YEs, but for now I am using Wet n' Wilds' version (and I like it too).

That is all folks, another 10 that I have tossed, I feel good. Have you tossed anything lately?

Here comes another big empties post.

A bunch of shadows crushed in my palette. It mainly consisted of Wet N Wild shadows. I really liked a few of them but I could only rebut spoiled brat. It seems the availability of the palettes has decreased significantly since I bought them. Most stores only have a few to choose from.  The other shadows were pressed TKB Trading pigments and Lancome GWP shadows I deported. Nothing I was too eager to replace.
Vasanti Eye Wonder I got this a long long time ago, I like it and use it but not enough to hold on to it any longer. Would I buy it again? Maybe, it was good and quite large.
M Asam Magic Finish I got this in a glymm box so long ago. I still have a bit left but will never use it up. Would I buy it again? NO, although it is ok, it really has a potent smell and just not for me.
Olay PROx Eye Restoration Complex This I got long ago as well, in a Lux Box. Time to say goodbye Would I buy it again? Doubtful. I never found it to be that amazing of an eye cream. I did like it and a little went a long way, but I think it just wasn't for me.
Mark Calming Effect This is a milk cleanser that work well. Sadly I just don't love milk cleansers and it just never made its way onto my daily use list. Would I buy it again?  No, it seems like Mark no longer has skin care products.
Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo I got this last month and it clogged after two uses. Seriously, two  uses. This is crap. I tried everything to fix it but no luck. Sadly the more I read reviews, the more I see this is just how HE dry smapoos are, they clog after two uses. WTF? Would I buy it again? NO! I am tossing a perfectly good product due to manufacturing issues. I'm not pleased.
Andrea Eye Makeup Remover Pads I did not like these at all. SCRATCHY! ick. Would I buy it again? No, I much prefer the Annabelle or Almay ones.
L'oreal Youth Code Texture Perfector Day/Night Cream  I love this cream. I used it all up. That never happens to me. It hydrated just right and was the right texture for me. Loved it Would I buy it again? YES, Love it.
Marc Anthony Oil Of Morocco I finally used it up! I feel like it too a long time to use such a small bottle of hair oil up, but I finally did. It wasn't too heavy or to fragranced, it was actually really nice Would I buy it again? Probably not, I really love the L'oreal Precious Oils Treatment but this comes a close second.
Life Brand SunThera3 Aloe After Sun Cleansing Wipes I got these last summer because I thought they would be great with my sun hives issues for stopping, well the hives. Sadly when I opened them they were dry. I got two packs and well they were both dry. Thanks a lot Life Brand, waisting my money and getting my hopes up Would I buy it again? Hell no!
Onyx Proffesional 100% Pure Acetone The basic acetone you get at walmart. I think they just canted the brand name now. Would I buy it again? Yes, I like pure acetone for nail polish remover, so if it is cheap I will buy it
Vaseline Spray and Go in Cocoa Radiant Not too much to say about this one, but I used up a body moisturizer…woot woot.  No, I didn't like it enough to justify its price. I am glad I tried it though.
Makeup Forever Mist and Fix This is the sec one one of these I've ever finished by MUFE. It makes for a every good fixer. I like it better than Mac Fix+, even the sprayer better. Would I buy it again? Yes, I am currently finishing some Ben Nye Final Seal and a Mac Charged Water, but once I am done I will most likely buy it again.
Rimmel Green Liner This is old. I won't like ….OLD! I kept it because I liked it so much and couldn't find another quite like it. I have now, so I am tossing it finally. Would I buy it again?  No, it is no longer made, or I would have years ago.
Lise Waiter and Hard Candy Lip Pencils I go these a long time ago and never liked their consistency or feel. Plus the colours looked bad on me Would I buy it again?  Nope.
Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stains These are old as well….seems to be the theme. I loved these, they were some of the best stains I've ever tried. Sadly they were limited editions, and now old. Would I buy it again? YES ! If they existed I would in a second.
Marcelle BB Cream to Powder I got this in a Marcelle BB kit I bought a while back. It reminds me of Benefit SomekindofGorgous. Would I buy it again? YES! I bought a full sized a few months back and am loving it.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Powder  This is a tiny version of the powder. The lid broke, but I still used it up Would I buy it again?  Yes, I have another one on the go right now, but I really like it.
Vasanti Liquid Foundation in V1 I got this so long ago and thought I tossed it. I really love it. It is a great concealer/foundation. I love it with BB creams to give a bit more coverage. Would I buy it again? YES!
The Body Shop Satsuma Body Scrub I love this scrub. It has lots of gritty bits in it and is in a tube. Oh and I just generally love Satsuma Would I buy it again?  YES!
Bath and Body Works White Citrus Body Scrub This scrub is almost sugar like, it dissolves quickly when in the shower. It smells amazing and has a nice lather Would I buy it again? No, I peter my scrubs to have more grit to them, like seeds or nuts in them.
The Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter I used this one up quickly, even thought it is small , I am impressed with how fast I used it up. Would I buy it again? Yes! I have tons though so it will be a while.
NeoStrata All-in-one Multi-Vitamin Complex these capsule are amazing. If my skin is remotely irritated it really does the trick to calm it. It always feels smooth and soft after using it. Would I buy it again? Yes, I have another one I am using right now.
Avon Advance Techniques Straightening Balm  This protects your hair from heat and helps you get straight hair, but I never used it. So it is time to toss it Would I buy it again? No, I never used it, it was good and I have no beef with it…but if I don't use it I wouldn't rebut it.
Crabtree and Evelyn Body Lotion I got this last year in Boston at a Double Tree Hotel. I kept it in my purse and liked it ok. Would I buy it again? No, but I do have more in my stash.
Color Brilliance Pre Color Treatment This spray helps fix porosity in hair before you colour it. Essentally if you hair just bleeds colour and won't hold it this is the product for you. I got it at sallys and it has lasted me 3+ uses. I passed it along to a friend who was trying recolour her hair after two years of ombre ends. Would I buy it again? YES!!! This is a must have to the at home hair colourer. If you go from light to dark or ever use a bleach to get rid of something you didn't like this will really help you keep your new hair shade in place. I wish I found it years ago.
Mac Mineralized Skin Finish Natural I finished it!!! This is amazing. It took me forever to kill this baby off. This is the second one I've finished, but it still took forever. Would I buy it again?  Not sure, mineral products don't do the best with my dry skin...but I still used it up and repurchased it last time. Time will tell.
NYX Jumbo Pencils I never, ever use these. They are nice, I've got bold and not so bold colours, but I never ever use them. Some of the lids have crack. It is just time to say goodbye. Would I buy it again? No, I really never use them, and they are nice, but I like Annabelles or Makeup Forever or even Essence jumbo style pencils more.
So that is it. My gigantic empties post.  I managed to do a lot of cleaning out this time around....and I am glad I did. No point in keeping stuff you don't like around.

Last year I did a What's In Your Shower post and now I figured was a good time to do another.

Now my apartment is a rental, so there is only so much I can do with it, so be kind.
Here we have a tension supported rod that hold quite a bit of stuff...not much mine.

On the top shelf is a dollarama mirror so the man can shave in the show.
Next to it is a shick razor with a trimmer on the other side
And finally we have Biore Steam Activated Cleanser...It works best in the shower so it is where I keep it.

The next row has Garnier Shampoo and Conditioners for the man and his razor case and razor.

The third row has Old Spice and Irish Spring body washes...ick Irish Spring, I just hate it. His Spectro Gel and my Olay Pro X Cleansing System...I love this thing but only seem to use it in the shower.

Finally the bottom rack has Topiclean Spa dog shampoo....not a big fan of the Spa line from them. If you are looking for a good smelling dog shampoo their regular line has an amazing papaya one for much less money. There is also a generic bubble bath in lavender that I got as a gift and a small bottle refilled with other dog shampoo from work. Oh and a nail brush.

On the tub is a bottle of  Neutrogena anti-resuidue shampoo...almost 3 years later and it is still going.
On the other side of the tub is where I keep most of my stuff. This is a towel rack that came with the place, I put a rack meant to hang on the shower head onto it.

I keep some hair bands here because I take them off in the shower and forget about them
Left to Right:
Bath and Body Works Butterfly Flower Bubble bath -love this stuff, love using a pump too.
Bath and Body Works Forever Sunshine Body Wash - Love it
L'oreal Ever Care Cleansing Conditioner - really like this, I find it a bit pricy and you have to use a lot, which might be easier without the dinky pump- so I hate the pump.
Hidden is a bottle of Sephora body wash that I refilled with The Body Shop body scrub because the lid broke.
Then there is L'oreal Total Repair 5 conditioner. I love this stuff so much...go buy some now.
Below where soap should be is L'oreal Total Repair 5 hair mask...love this more...you should buy it too. It is the best mask ever!.
2 Poofs, one is mine one is his.
Stuffed into the rack is Balea Deep Conditioning Mask - this was $0.79 so I got two and John Frieda Brilliant Brunette conditioner, I really got to many of these last year at dollarama.

So that is my shower, not too much change but it is an update. If you want to see my old one click here

Professionally and clinically designed to cleanse 6 times better, the Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System also sets your skin up for supersonic anti-aging moisturization. -olay.ca
I picked up a Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System last month at my local Wal-mart for $29.97 (cheaper than Shoppers or Rexall).

It came with the water resistant scrubber, a scrubber head, batteries and a small bottle of Pro-X Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser.

I love this baby. I have never been an ideal skin care routine person, but with this baby I have been getting better at it. I have had a bumpy congested section of my face since the spring (a year now), even after a facial it had not improved. After one week of using this scrubber my skin had greatly improved. Was it gone all together, no, but it is better.

I love that there are two speeds and that I can use it in the shower.

How to use:
Dampen facial skin and brush head lightly with water. Dispense Pro-X Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser in your hand and massage over face. Turn on cleansing brush and gently move around the face for approximately 60 seconds. Avoid the eye area. Rinse face and brush head with water.-olay.ca

Easy? Yep.

I've tried it with the cleanser that was included as well as some that I have at home. I personally don't mind the Olay one but will not be buying it (I just don't like P&G).
Pros:
  • Cheap
  • 2 speeds
  • Easy to use
  • Effective
  • Comes with a cleanser
  • Easy to find in stores
  • Works in the shower
Cons:
  • None that I can think of
Overall:
If you've wanted a facial system to clean your skin better or just up your routine, this is a not too pricy option that you can get just about anywhere.
