Beauty Vixen

Nothing says late glamour like Red Carpet Season, and while it might be wrapping up this week with the Oscars, there is plenty of glam to be had with L'oreal Paris' new items for Spring. Today I'm going to look at some of their new items and create my own Red Carpet look using just 5 items (yep, 5 items, I'm crazy like that).
First up is L'oreal's Lumi Cushion Buildable Luminous Foundation. This is their first cushion foundation and mine too. The idea is simple you open it up, take the sponge and dab it into the sponge that is saturated in the foundation. You then take that sponge (or cushion) and dab it onto your face in layers until you are happy with the coverage.
Ok, so I do not know what to say about this one other than I am in love. LOVE  I say, it goes on so smooth and even without much effort at all. It blends out so well and even. It is only a medium coverage, so you may still need a concealer, but man is it great foundation for a natural look. My skin looks so real in it, which is a strange thing to say, it certinly dosn't look fake or cakey at all. Just perfect. This might be my new everyday work foundation.
Next up is the Voluminous SuperStar Red Carpet Black Mascara. This is a two step mascara meant to lengthen your lashes. With a first white step that volumizes and a second fiber black step that extends the lashes it deliverers some longer lashes then I am used to getting from just a mascara. I don't find that the white is visible at all once the black is applied. Also, many times I find the white layer to be too dry in these types of products, but not with this one, it goes on just like a normal mascara would.
Brows might not be everyone's thing, but to me a good brow product can make my day. Since I colour my hair I rely on brow products to make me look normal and not crazy with mismatched brows to my hair. Since my hair is currently purple I need to darken my bows quite a bit (oh yeah and there are grays in there too now). L'oreal's Brow Stylist Definer in Dark Brunette I am able to make my bows Red Carpet ready with little effort at all. It has an automatic thin pencil which also retracts (a rare thing) and a nice spooly on the end (why cant all spoolies be like this one?). Any way I work it, a few strokes of this and my brows are darker and nicely filled in.  The only down side I would say is I think I will be going though it pretty fast since whatever I extend out seems to get used up quickly.

When I first saw L'oreal's Black Velvet Liner I thought it was a powder, but really it is a pen liquid liner with a fuzzy tip. The tip is flat shaped making it incredibly unique. It also means it takes a while to get used to it. If you want a nice thin line on your eyelids that is thin, that is actually really easy to do since it is such a wet formulation. Creating a cat eye is another thing, that took a bit of practice of me.  I am pretty bad at getting my own wings to match up (other peoples I am a pro at it), so I always have a makeup removing q-tip handy, and this was n o exception. I think if you want to create the perfect wing every time this might not be fore you, but if you want to create thickening and bolder liner looks It really might be for you. Anyways, bellow is a pick of what I did with it and I am quite happy to say I will continue to be using the liner for some time to come because it has an incredibly soundproof formula, and when it comes down to it, that is what matters the most to me, everything else just takes practice.

Here you can see how everything kind of comes together. My brows look great, well shaped and the right shade. My liner is tight to my lashes and have a crisp look to them. my lashes are long anand defined. No white primer showing at all. Finally you can see my skin looks really good. I wore this look all day and night and it didn't smudge one bit.
So all I added to this look was a L'oreal Pro-Matte Gloss. I could have chosen a red lip to be really Red Carpet Glam, but instead I chose a Fuchsia, Amnesia to be exact . You can check out my full review on the glosses here.
So there you go, four new items I am loving from L'oreal that I think are Red Carpet worthy.

Is there anything you just love in a Red Carpet Look?

The MEGA VOLUME You’ve Been Dreaming Of. The secret of big manga eyes is here with Miss Manga™ by Voluminous™! The 360º Flexor Brush amplifies upper lashes while the precision cone tip maximizes lower lashes. It’s the ultimate manga look with up to 15X more volume and no flakes! -lorealparis.ca

If you love full, thick and dark lashes you are going to want to check out L'oreal's Miss Manga Mascara right away! With a pointed brush on a flexible wand you can layer this baby up to your hearts content and not risk any flaking.

I love the point to the wand, it lets me get a good amount of coverage to those pesky inner lashes and right down to the lashes base. The flexible handle makes it so I don't poke my eyes out too easy (seriously I am really prone to poking myself in the eye with mascara wands).

The formula works great to create a really built up look without being spidery. I personally love to do slow coats and take the time to do about 3 and I end up with insanely big lashes. I really am loving the big lash effect, I feel like I am almost wearing falsies when I use it.
In August three limited edition shades will be out in stores, Electric Blue, Purple and Turquoise. The permanent line up is already available in stores and includes Black, Blackest Black, Black Brown, Waterproof Blackest Black and Waterproof Black. I personally am going to hunt down the Waterproof Blackest Black and Turquoise as soon as I see them in a store.
Above is a picture of two coats of the purple on my lashes. The purple shade is not over the top vibrant and quite suitable for day or work wear. The blue and turquoise (which I do not have) are much more bold and vibrant from what I have seen. I personally like that the purple is a more wearable shade and have getting lots of complements on it whenever I wear it. To see a great swatch of the Turquoise here is a link to Perilously Pale's post on it.

The permeant shades are available in stores now and the limited editions ones will be in mid August. Suggested retail is $10.99.

As I said above, I love this mascara and cannot wait to get the Turquoise and the waterproof Blackest Black in my hands. What are your thoughts on this mascara? Any shade you want to try out?

Get the red carpet’s most iconic flared-out lash look with L’Oréal Paris’ new Voluminous Butterfly Mascara. The newest member to the legendary family of Voluminous mascaras enables women to achieve this coveted lash look with the simple stroke of its innovative new “butterfly” mascara brush. The new, wing-tipped asymmetrical brush features two unique sides including one with shorter bristles for serious fringe volume boosting and lengthening. While the other side of the brush is curved with a mix of short-to-long bristles for grabbing and separating each lash for a full, flared-out finish. The new formula offers 6x the volume of regular mascaras. “Cocoon smart” fibers individually cover lashes instead of wrapping them together for maximum lash separation and flare. Voluminous Butterfly Mascara is available in three shades including Black, Blackest Black and Black Brown. -lorealparisusa.com
To say that the wait for this mascara to come to Canada has felt like forever would be an understatement. I first heard about it on twitter in the spring and have been anxious ever since. Why? One, it looks amazing, just look at that brush. Second, butterflies! I love butterflies. It was first released in France and was launched under the French name for butterfly, papillon. Ok so now you're say so what. Well, I love butterflies because I have a papillon dog, a butterfly dog. So all in all...I'm excited, so excited here is a picture of my dog, Monty.
Monty, my little butterfly dressed up as Marty McFly on halloween.
Ok so back to the mascara. This want is crazy! It gives a lift like I have never seen. Boldness, Drama, Thick and Full Lashes.  doesn't clump. The brush makes it really easy to get right at the base of the lash. It is everything you could ever want. See my pics below. My left eye has the mascara and right has nothing. What a difference.
Available: Now in mass-market retailers and drugstores across Canada.
Suggested Retail Price: $11.99

L'oreal Paris launched a new display at stores across Canada, you may have seen it already, it is the "Voluminous Dress Your Lashes" display.

Essentially they are trying to get women to build their lash wardrobe using the Voluminous line of mascaras.
Personally, I adore the Voluminious mascaras and can find no fault in any of them (really I've tried so many by now and in so many colour options) so I think this is a really great idea.
They are promoting four of their Voluminous mascaras in various colours and finishes for different effects on the lashes, giving you a full wardrobe for your different looks and needs.

Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Mascara in Blackest Black
This might be my favourite of all of the mascaras. It is a false fiber mascara that builds up to bold bold lashes. Described as a false lash effect, I personally love it. The "Show Stopping Shoes" for your wardrobe.

Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara in Carbon Black
L'oreal describes this as their little black dress of mascaras, and it doesn't surprise me at all. It provides you with more of a classic look with lots of volume.

Voluminous Power 24 H Mascara in Black Smoke
For stunning "conversation piece" lashes, these are them. Zero clumps, but bold full lashes that are matte black and smokey. I must say the matte factor is truly unique here and a great addition to their line up. I love the Power 24H brush and formulation, to try in another colour like this matte one is exciting.

Voluminous Million Lashes in Blackest Black
This one is "your outrageous accessory". I adore this rubber brush and the formulation. I definitely think this is on every woman should have in their lash wardrobe.
My personal favourite of all of these is the False Fiber, I adore the tapered brush, the fiber formula the volume it delivers, everything about it. You can see below that all the brushes are very different, as are the looks they deliver.

Summer is here and part of my week long showcase of upcoming summer products I've decided to show off what is new and exciting from L'oreal Paris Canada.

I'm super excited about so many of these items. I was lucky enough to get to go to a summer preview hosted by the brand a few weeks back to learn, see and play with the new products. Let's just say you won't be disappointed with their summer offerings for 2012.

Colour Riche Caresse Lipcolour
"Colour Riche introduces the next generation of lipcolour – fresh and light in 12 gorgeous shades! Colour Riche Caresse offers sensually luminous colour with 50% less heavy wax than a traditional lipstick. The effect is a sultry translucent colour, weightless feel and ultra modern shine."
Shades: Cotton Pink, Pink Cashmere, Blushing Sequin, Velvety Fuchsia , Rose Taffeta, Violet Chiffon, Sunset Angora, Fiery Veil, Cardinal Plume, Cherry Tulle, Silky Java, Sheer Linen Suggested Retail Price: $12.99.
Now you may have seen my blog swatting these babies (if not they are here).  I must say the last few weeks that I have been able to try these out that I have fallen head over heals in love with them. They are soft, glossy, silky to the touch, come in amazing colours, vibrant but suitable...everything you want for the summer. I cannot say enough good things about these. As soon as they hit the shelfs you should check them out.

Infallible Lacquer Liner 24H Eyeliner
"The first gel eyeliner from L’Oréal Paris, this luxurious formula gives a unique black- lacquer effect that’s incredibly dimensional – never flat or ashy. Combined with the legendary Infallible long-wear technology and a luxurious brush for professional precision, Infallible Lacquer Liner 24H gives your eyes 24 hours of absolute perfection."
Shades: Blackest Black & Slate Suggested Retail Price: $12.99
This black as can be liner goes on extremely rich and dark and even comes with its own brush. The brush is an added little touch that makes it even better, with the ability to draw fine lines or wider ones and holds together without fraying it sounds absolutely amazing. As I am always on the lookout for a new and better longer lasting black liner I will be trying this one out ASAP. Swatches below.

La Couleur Infallible Eyeshadow – New Dual-Pigment Shades!
"Introducing 6 new, show-stopping shades to this award-winning line of eye shadows featuring 24 hour-pigment technology that resists creasing, rubbing and 11,000 blinks. Using duo-chrome technology, each luscious new Dual-Pigment shade is actually a combination of 2 different complimentary pigments to create a dimensional, multi-faceted effect on eyes for eye shadow that’s not only infallible – it’s unforgettable."
Shades: Metallic Lilac, Magnetic Coral, Innocent Turquoise, Sassy Chamallow, Tender Caramel, Pepsy Coral Suggested Retail Price: $10.99
You might already know this about me, but I love La Couleur infallible shadows, LOVE THEM. To hear new shades were coming out got me excited, but then to learn they are dual-pigment colours, well that got me very very excited. If you haven't tried anything from the La Couleur Infallible line out yet now is the perfect time. I have already seen a display sporting all these colours at my local Walmart, so keep your eyes peeled. In fact I have "Pepsy Coral" already (swatches below).

Visible Lift Repair Absolute Compact Foundation
"Helps to reverse the signs of aging by providing full coverage to reduce the appearance of fine lines and dark spots. Contains anti-aging ingredients Pro- Retinol A, Hyaluronic & Pro-Lastyl to brighten, revitalize and even skin tone for more youthful, radiant looking skin."
Shades: 12 shades from Soft Ivory to Classic Tan Suggested Retail Price: $18.99
Oh a foundation that helps my skin as it ages, I want. It has full spectrum SPF 16, which is amazing. This stuff feels amazing and well I have a sample but it is far too dark for me so I'll have to wait a little longer to try it out. But let us just say, it looks amazing and the anticipation is killing me.

True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Foundation
Guarantees luminous, shine-free and visibly healthier skin in 4 weeks. Its formula contains 40% pure water - to ensure freshness and all day hydration - combined with Vitamins C and E, SPF 20 and liquid Anderson technology that optimizes light reflection and intensifies luminosity. Imperfections are instantly minimized and in just four weeks, skin is clearer, more even toned, and more luminous.
Shades: 14 shades from Porcelain – Light Ivory to Nut Brown – Cocoa Suggested Retail Price: $18.99
I've already seen this in my local Shoppers Drug Mart, so keep your eyes peeled. This foundation has spf 20. This foundation is meant to make you look flawless and over time help with flaws in your skin. I cannot wait to try this one out on my face. Right now I have a sample that is way too dark. I will purchase ASAP and review for you.

Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream
"The latest addition to L’Oréal Paris’ popular Magic family of cosmetics, this innovative BB cream primes, perfects, hydrates and corrects all-in-one-step. It contains L’Oréal’s exclusive new patented Beautifying Beads featuring micro-pigment capsules that instantly melt on contact with your skin to self-adjust to your skin tone. It also features Vitamin E and hydrates skin for up to 24-hours. For easy application, the product comes out of the tube white so you can see where you’ve applied it. Best of all, it creates the perfect nude look every time."
Shades: Fair, Light, Medium & Deep Suggested Retail Price: $16.99
This BB goes on white but changes to the right shade when blended. There are nifty little pigments beads coated in nutrients that melt onto the skin and create beautiful self adjusted look for your skin. I got a sample of this too, but sadly too dark, I will swatch below though. I did get to try this out on my skin when I got a makeover at the Luminato tent though and loved how my skin felt. I will buy as soon as I can and do a review.

Youth Code BB Cream Illuminator
"This new BB cream with SPF 15 evens, perfects, protects, moisturizes, illuminates and corrects skin in just one simple step. Featuring L’Oréal’s patented Micro Pearls and Light Boost Technology, the new BB Cream makes skin glow and look more radiant. The formula also features Vitamin B3, Cg and Pro-Cysteine and Recoverine to help diminish and even out pesky dark spots."
Shades: Light & Medium Suggested Retail Price: $23.99
Being a massive fan of anything Youth Code  I must say I must HAVE this, I want it now!! With BROAD SPECTRUM SPF 15 and a beautiful texture, this BB helps get rid of dark-spots and even out skin tone while giving your skin a does of vitamins and other amazing skin nutrients.  Woohoo. I want, oh wait I said that already.

Voluminous Power 24H Mascara
"Creates voluptuous, long-wearing volume thanks to a collagen-enriched formula, mega-brush and intense shades. Lashes are plumped and volumized for 15X lash impact that lasts for 24 hours."
Shades: Black, Blackest Black, Black Brown, Waterproof Black, Waterproof Blackest Black Suggested Retail Price: $11.99

Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Black Lacquer Mascara
"This new shade of the popular Voluminous False Fiber Lashes mascara provides vinyl-sheen, creating lashes that are ultra-black, ultra-glossy and ultra-outrageous." Suggested Retail Price: $11.99

It sounds like with both these additions to the Voluminous line of mascaras that L'oreal has improved them even further, how exciting. The false finer on intrigues me the most, I have yet to find a Fiber mascara that I really love and high hopes for it, plus glossy lashes --yes please! The 24 hour mascara interests me because, well there are two waterproof shades. I love mascara but need a hardcore waterproof mascara. I will let you know how they hold up once I give it a try.

So that is what is new this summer at L'oreal, look out for the items at your local stores.

Personally almost everything is a must have for me. The lipsticks are amazing, the shadows are fantastic and I cannot wait to try the BB and foundations out. Oh the anticipation is killing me...
