TRESemmé’s Beauty-Full Volume is rewriting the rules of voluminous hair by reversing the traditional haircare routine. Condition FIRST to soften hair, then shampoo to wash away weight. Your hair is left hair smooth and polished, but still full of bounce. Who says you can't have it all? -Tresemmé.ca

Reverse shampooing is an actual thing, I never heard of it until recently, but it really is a thing. You basically put conditioner in your hair first then use your shampoo. The results are supposed to be crazy light weight hair with lots of volume. Crazy, right? I feel as shocked as when I first learned of Co-Washing or No-Poo as a hair washing option.

Apparently this isn't as easy as it sounds, it takes a lot of fiddling around to get it right (reminds me of my Co-Washing days). Which is why Tresemmé has launched its own line that perfects the reverse shampoo process.
Beauty-Ful Volume is Tresemmé's latest collection of hair care products that delivers light and full hair with lots of volume via the Reverse shampoo method.
So as you can see the Step 1 (or conditioner) is in a smaller bottle then the Step 2 (a creamy shampoo), meaning you are supposed to use less of it, which to be honest is a hard concept for me to adhere to.
Pretty much you wet your hair, apply 2 to 3 pumps of Step 1 (conditioner) then rinse out. You then follow this up with Step 2 (shampoo) and lather it all up and rinse it out. Not too hard now is it? Once your hair is towelled dry you can apply Step 3 which is a balm called Volume Hair Maximizer.

So the results? My hair was clean and soft, but that's about it. I didn't gain any extra volume and I think since my hair isn't fine it really isn't the right product for me.

The first time I used it I think I used too much Step 1 (about 5 pumps on my short hair) and I think it may have weighted my hair down. I also think I used too much of Step 3 so the results just weren't that great. My hair felt soft and healthy but not full or voluminous.

The second and third time I skipped Step 3 and stuck with 3 pumps of Step 1. I found my hair much better, oh so much better. But not anything I would write home about.

The next three times I stuck with 3 pumps of Step one and just a loonie sized squeeze of Step 3 and found my hair really responded well to it. But still not crazy volume, just ok volume. I also noticed my hair was getting softer and generally felt healthier, way healthier. So I may not be getting the main feature, volume, but I am getting soft and well conditioned hair.

I'm not sure if like with co-washing my hair and scalp would just need a bit of time to adjust their oil production and to how the product just generally works, but I think it might have more to with the fact I don't have fine hair.

So at this point I think the line just isn't for me. So I lent it to my friend who suffered from fine hair and feels she never gets the volume she needs. The results, she loves it. Just loves it. She finds it leaves her hair full of volume and she can go 3 days with out washing her hair no problem.
So overall this products gave me soft and well conditioned hair even though the conditioner went on first. It also gave me hair that I generally really liked. It did not give me a lot of volume or body to my hair, but it did for my friend who has fine hair and cannot obtain volume easily. I also love the shampoo is creamy and the conditioner has a pump (I do think the shampoo needs one because I keep on squeezing far too much out). All in all I would buy it again simply because the concept is neat and it made my hair really soft.

Have you tried Reverse Shampooing or the Beauty-Full Volume System from Tresemmé?

Last week I received my March Glossybox, here it is:
The theme for March was Metropollitain Chic, pretty much stuff to prep us for the spring.
The 5 items we got were:
  • L'oreal Paris Youth Code Dark Spot Corrector Serum: Full Sized, 30 ml retails for $29.99
  • ModelCo Cheek and Lip Tint in Rossy Red: Full Sized, 10 ml, retails for $24.00
  • Jergins Natural Glow, 3 days to Glow in Fair to Medium: Full Sized, 120 ml, retails for $12.99
  • Tresseme Platinum Strength Deep Conditioning Treatment: Full Sized, 177 ml, retails for $5.99
  • BM Beauty Platinum Tiara Eye Shadow: 1 g in size, full size is 2 g and retails for $10.80 (making this sample $5.40 in value).

We also got two coupons, on for $3 off any YouthCode item and one for a free cleanser when you buy any nose strips from Biore. I need more Biore Combination skin cleanser so I will be using this right away.
Overall I am extremely happy with this box....4 full sized items, items with makeup and colour to them. Skin care that is amazing and a hair mask. This is exactly the type of box I want every month.

I'm super excited to try out the youth code serum, I love the original serum so to try out this one is exciting. While I do not tan nor do I like a tanned look I can definitely find a good home for the Jergins,. My hair has been fried lately and it needs a good mask. Modelco lip/cheek tint looks amazing and I adore all lip stains.
If you are interested in getting a glossybox use the code Glossy55 to get 10% off.

I received my December GlossyBox last week and I have a bit of mixed feeling on it...but for now I'll just show you what is inside.
First off a shiny silver box, a first from what I understand and actually I really like it.
Inside is a sticker with the LouLou magazine logo on it, this months box was curated by Loulou and features tips from them on the product card.
GlossyMag and the Lulu subscription card
Product Card
The box:
Tresemmé Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo.
This product is meant for Fine/Oil hair (which I do not have) and is a small or travel bottle with 56 g inside.  I have tried this before and let us just say I tossed it.

A full sized product is 161 g and retails for $5.99.

Aveeno Positively Ageless Day SPF 30 Moisturizer.
This is an airy day moisturizer with SPF 30 UVA and UVB protection (a major plus).

This is a full sized product at 75 ml and retails for $22.99
Others may have received the Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer ( I feel my profile that I filled out might have warranted this product a bit more but I am extremely happy to receive the ageless version)

Aveeno Positivley Radiant Tinted Moisturizer (fair to light) SPF 30.
This is another daytime moisturizer from Aveeno. It also has both UVA and UVB protection

This is a full sized product at 75 ml and retails for $22.99

Avon Glazewear Intense LipGloss in Sundance.
This is a lipgloss sent from Europe that has not been made since 2005. That means this product is at least 7 years old (maybe even older).

This is a full sized product at 6 ml and has been out of production since 2005.

Revlon Nail Enamel in Silver Screen.
This is a colour not currently sold by Revlon Canada.
Some people received limited edition colours from 2+ years ago and others ones with "rite aide" discount stickers on them (an American drug store chain).

This is a full sized product at 15 ml and retails for $5.99 (discontinued/past limited edition colours are at dollarama for $2 currently).

GlossyBox Lashes.
These lashes come with a 1 ml bottle of rubberized latex.

These are a full sized product with lash glue and are exclusive to the box. Their value is estimated at $12.50

Tresemmé Spit Remedy Sachet.
These are sample packets of the shampoo and conditioner at 9 ml each, they were a bonus item in the box.

A full sized product is 700 ml and retails for $5.99 for the shampoo or conditioner.

We also received a bonus pair of earrings. They are valued at $14.99

My thoughts?
Not so glossy from my end. A product that hasn't been made or sold since 2005, a discontinued nail polish. Really? The lashes are in no way worth the $12.50 either, which I don't care about, I just think it is some serious over estimating on their part there to make the box look like it is worth more.

The earrings were a nice bonus, but they look cheap and I could never expect to pay that much for them. Why aren't they even on the product card? Strange.

As for the whole Lulu part, I cannot see how they curated this box at all. There is a sheet with a standard subscription deal on it, nothing better than what you can get any time of the year (in face I get a better deal currently).

Overall:
So no that I've nit picked the thing to death, I would like to say this box let me down. I wanted to try new brands and up and coming items that I might over look when shopping, the Aveeno definitely delivers in this area but there are not one but two day creams in the box so even that is silly. I hope I like the Tresemmé dry shampoo, I hated it last time I used it so much that I tossed it.

This is a complete drug store box, with an old European Avon item tossed in (I love avon but this is Glossy fault), major let down.

I will stick with for one more month, it will be their anniversary box so I have high-high-high hopes.

PS after last months initial mehh reaction I seriously grew to love that box. I love that Curel hand lotion, the Nicole By OPI nail polish is just fantastic (holiday themed indeed) and the vitabath was amazing as was the Kryolan blush. I learned way after the fact the lip gloss was a European exclusive and that made it seem a bit more exciting. I doubt my feelings towards this months will change though.

If you do want to try out GlossyBox Canada, feel free to use the code GLOSSY55 to save 10% off your first box.
