Beauty Vixen

Wet N Wild launched some pretty fantastic products last year, and three the stuck out for me were in there new PhotoFocus line, the foundation, concealer and pressed powder. The three of them were all tested under 6 types of lighting to make sure that your skin is always photo ready.
The truth is no one likes flashback with their foundation in their photos, and now you don't have to worry about it at all.

PhotoFocus Foundation:
The foundation goes on really well and provides a pretty darn natural medium coverage look. There is a spatula attached to the lid, which is a great feature. I really hate dumping foundation bottles upside down to try to get the product out, I often waste a ton, so it is nice that I can just put some on a palette, or my arm, or right on my sponges.
I prefer to use a sponge like a beauty blender or a Real Techniques sponge (which is my favourite sponge brand right now). I find I get a real natural finish and I can build up where I need a bit more of a medium coverage.

PhotoFocus Concealer.Corrector
The concealer works really well with the foundation but can be a bit harder to blend out at times. I personally prefer a bit of a creamy texture to my doe-foot liquid concealers, but I do think it is really good for the price point.
I usually put some concealer on my difficult spots, under eyes, around nose, breakouts and a red spot that is perpetually on my left cheek, then blend out with the same sponge I used for my foundation.

PhotoFocus Pressed Powder
The powder is surprisingly fantastic. I have dry skin and can find my skin isn't always a giant fan of powder, but this stuff sits so well on my skin. In fact, since I took these pictures I managed to use it so much that I hit pan. I never hit pan on anything. I will definitely be picking some more up soon.
The powder doesn't tend to leave me with dry spots or patches, it mattifies my skin just right and can add that extra bit of coverage I needed where my skin is particularly red. I really like it to set where my concealer is and my t-zone. I find it works well with other foundations too or when I am just in need of some powder.
Overall I am really enjoying this line. I like how the foundation looks on my skin and always photographs well, in fact, I went and got passport photos taken with it on. I like the spatula, it makes it simple to get the foundation out and without a mess. It doesn't oxidize on my skin and there are 20 shades that cover a good range of skin tones.

The concealer isn't my favourite, but it does do a really good job covering my trouble spots. I was so glad to cover my post acne marks just above my lips, lessen my undereye circles and red spot on my cheek without any fussing around.

The powder is phenomenal, it is just great for my dry skin. My skin always looks real even after powdering.

My skin also doesn't ever feel dry when using the products which is great. Finally, I love Wet N Wild's price point, it is by far my favourite value brand out there.

Guerlain Meteorites are hands down one of the most iconic items I happen to have in my collection. 2017 marks a milestone for this legendary product, it turns 30. In honour of Guerlain Meteorites 30th there is a limited edition of the beautiful pearls out, Happy Glow Meteorites.
Housed in a beautiful white sphere that has a pink luminescence to it making it look like a pearl, Happy Glow has a unique blend of colours in it.  Still scented with the iconic Violet scent that I consider intoxicating, these pearls are glowy indeed. It features mauve and pink pearls, tiny little bronze pearls and larger champagne coloured pearls. It overall has a more shimmery look then the permanent line but less then the holiday ones.. All of which makes it a unique blend suiting of a 30th birthday.

This beautiful baby will join my collection that already features two holiday limited editions (2015 and 2016) and 01 Blanc de Perle and a custom blend I got made at their 30th anniversary party. As well as my Meteorites Base, a beautiful primer that features pink pearls suspended in a clear primer base.
01 Blanc de Perle and Meteorites Base
Before I leave you, here are some facts that I find interesting about Meteorites
  • They are hand made in France with a very specific formulation, only 4 people handcraft them.
  • Each batch and formula has a specific amount of each shade in it (meaning every batch you get will be exactly the same, no wondering if one batch has more or less of a shade in it).
  • Each container is hand filled for accuracy and care.
So there you go a bit of a run down of Meteorites and a look a why I love them so much.

Quo recently celebrated its 16th birthday. With this milestone came a whole new line of products. Today I am going to look at the brow products that they just launched.

Brow Wow Powder:

This is a powder brow product but it comes in a tube with a little doe foot type applicator tip. I've seen a brand or two offer products like this but never thought of it for me. Boy have I changed my mind. I love applying eyeshadow as my brow powder, but it is inconvenient at best. I need a brush and  a shadow and to be honest for travel that end up taking some space. This though is a mini tube that com acts the process into one item. I thought the powder would have a lot of fall out since it loose, but it doesn't. It seems to magically stick to my hairs. Now that I have greys hanging out in my brows it makes it even better. I got mine in the shade Taupe, not a shade I thought would suite me but it does. It is a much more light brown then taupe shade.
Eye Brow Powder Kit:

This my favourite item in the kit. I was actually quite shocked at how much I love it. You get two jars with sifters in them, one with a darker shade and one with a lighter. You also get an angled brush and spooly and a clear brow gel. Together you mix and match powders until you get your perfect brow powder. Its loose so you think it might be mess, but the lids do a good job for mixing. I usually sift a little of each into their lids and dab the angled brush back and forth until I feel I have a nice shade. I then swipe it through my brows. Followed by a brushing of the spooly side of the brush. I sometimes use the brow gel and sometimes I don't. Anyways I am loving it, I can go as bold or as tame as I want and I always get the shade I am looking for on that day.

Precision Brow Pencil:

This is one of those micro tine automatic eyebrow pencils with a nice tiny brush on the other side. There isn't to much to say about this one but I love it (shocking I know, I just love brow products). It is a firm pencil so it is great for when you are trying to fill things in or create some fine lines.  I got it in the shade Brunette. I find it a smiler shade to the Brow Wow in Taupe.

Double Agent:
Double Agent is a fat oversized pencil with two ends to it. It is designed to accentuate you brows and brighten your eyes. The Brow Lifter side goes under your brows (usually under the outer side after your arch) and can be blended in as a nice highlight that opens your eye up. It is a light pinky shade that really can make your brows look just great. The Eye Brightener side is meant to brighten your inner eye area. It is an off white she Both sides are really soft and easy to blend.
I currently love all these brow products, but then again I do have an issue where I must have all the brow products in the world....I don't quite know why, but they might be my favourite item to have.

I highly recommend you pick up at least one of these items, I can't suggest just one since I love them all, but also because everyone is so different in what they like. If you like a pencil the Precision pencil is fantastic, if you like powder, both the kit and the Brow Wow Powder are great buys. I think everyone can benefit from the Double Agent even on easy going days just to make the eyes pop just that little bit more.
Do you have a go to brow product that you just love?

Foundation: Longwear without the compromise. Never masky, never cakey, never dull – Infallible Pro-Matte™ is L’Oréal’s new generation of longwearing makeup. The micro-sponge technology absorbs excess oil and shine to create a dimensional matte finish without the need for a heavy or caked-on look. Use a sponge to buff it out for a sheer and natural look or apply in layers for more complete coverage
Powder: Go beyond matte to perfectly polished. Use this powder alone for a sheer coverage and soft matte finish or over your Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation to nix oil and shine. APPLICATION TIP: focus powder application on the T-zone – the centre of the forehead, the bridge of the nose and the chin. Apply with the included sponge for greater coverage or with a large fluffy brush for a sheer dusting of powder. -lorealparis.ca
Since everyone has been going on about the new L'oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation and Powder for the last few months I decided I had to go out and get my own. It turns out I am Classic Ivory in the foundation and Porcelain in the powder.

I have dry skin but love the look a matte foundation, I like it more than a glowy dewy look in fact. Sadly having dry skin I can't often accomplish that. This foundation over a nice primer (I used L'oreal's Miracle Blur when taking these pics) gives me nice matte look without drying up my skin into flaky little bits.
I personally like to use my fingers to apply it or a beauty blender/real techniques sponge for a smoothed out finish that isn't too thick. It does dry quite quickly on your skin so I would highly recommend working in sections rather than applying all over and then blending.

Overall it gives a nice light to  medium coverage that really buildible lasts all day for me and doesn't dry my skin up or look flat.
For the powder,  if I use it over the foundation it brings it from a medium coverage to a full. Any flaws that I could see with a medium coverage foundation that should have been covered with a concealer get covered with this powder. Yep I can skip concealing.
On its own it is great when I have lazy makeup days. I wake up, I wash my face I feel a tad bit oily and don't want to do the full foundation routine, I buff some of this on and it evens out my skin and takes away the oil and shine. Perfect.

One thing I really do love is that it never goes cakey. I've even done touch ups throughout the day and have been quite impressed that nothing is cakey and doesn't cling to dry patches on my skin (or at least doesn't make them look dry and noticeable).
I like to take away any powdery finish from it by spraying a setting spray over it (I really am loving the L'oreal Infallible Pro-Matte one at the moment, the collection works really well all together).

A look I created using the foundation and powder on my face.
Pros:
  • Easy to find at the drug store or mass retailer
  • Doesn't dry out skin
  • Great coverage
  • Doesn't look Flat
  • Doesn't get cakey
Cons:
  • A bit pricy. - I got mine at walmart for $14.96 and $12.96, much cheaper than a drug store.
  • The packaging gets dirty really quick.
Overall:
I'm glad I bought these products. I thought maybe with my dry dry skin that it might not be for me, but I really think it is working well for me. I love the light to  medium coverage and the full coverage they give together. Alone or together they work really well for me. I would definitely buy them again.
Have you tried the Infallible Pro-Matte Products? What do you think of them? I'm loving them
