Create beautifully lasting looks with our most loyal liners. Rain or shine, this long-lasting eyeliner glides smoothly along the delicate skin on eyes and stays in place for hours. The waterproof, smudge-resistant formula gives you permission to wear looks that are expressive and bright or simply soft without worrying if your eyeliner will fade, transfer or disappear. A built-in sharpener ensures that your liner is always on point, while supersaturated shades deliver intense color payoff in a creamy, soft matte finish. Live your life — get caught in the rain, dance all night and laugh until you cry — our liners last! -marykay.ca
I adore a good retractable eye liner, they're hard to find actually. Most are just a big pile or soft smudgy line that won't sit still for the life of them, even when they claim to be waterproof. I really hate when I put a liner on and an hour or two later I have a big smudge under my eye.

Which brings me to Mary Kay's new Waterproof Eyeliners. They're really are waterproof, plus to make it even better, they're retractable, so you never need to pull out a sharpener.
swatches of mary kay waterproof eyeliner
These beautiful liners come in a typical automatic retractable style, with a tiny sharpener on the end for creating an extra sharp tip. The liner itself is incredibly creamy with rich deep colour. It's so creamy in fact, I was shocked they could claim it was waterproof. The creamy texture is just so beautiful for a smooth, tug free application. Not to mention, the perfect formula for smudging out for Smokey looks. There is no upper lid transfer, which happens to me more than I would like to admit. It dried down after a few minutes to a truly waterproof liner. You could t smudge it if you tried. That being said, you're going to need a good makeup remover to get it off (I recommend Mary Kay's,  they just reformulated it and it's the best you can buy).
Me wearing Mary Kay Waterproof Liner in Brown. Brows are Mary Kay Precision Brow Liner in Dark Brunette and Lips are Mary Kay Matte Liquid Lipstick in Must-Have Mauve
The liners come in four colours, Black, Steely (a grey tone), Brown and Blue. All are matte and I have been rocking a lot lately. I really enjoying Brown, it has been my go to for an easy everyday look. I apply it, tight line my upper lashes, smudge it out into a shadow, and then reline and just a bit more smudging. I end up with an effortless smokey brown eye with just one product. I haven't actually enjoyed a liner like this in a long time.
What also very impressed,  to me at least is, they also launched a Waterproof Lipliner. They are pretty much the exact same but in 12 lip shades. They way they stay put is so impressive.

PROS:
  • They are truly waterproof
  • They are richly pigmented
  • They glide on smooth
  • They smudge well then set
  • Little sharpener built in
CONS:
  • None I can think of...at all!
  • Oh maybe I would like a few more shades in time...I would love to see an emerald green.
Overall, I am in love, and that's really hard for me to believe. Years ago I had tons of liners that were like this but from Stila and everyone said how great they were. I always thought they were a let down. They'd smudge, I couldn't retract them, they were a mess. But people loved them and said they were waterproof,  and I just dispised them. These Mary Kay ones on the other hand are actually everything those Stila ones were not. I never thought I'd find a liner I'd love like this. I want to scream it from the roof tops 'check these liners out!!'. Yeah so, they're good.

A little while back I accidently bought some ELF O FACE Satin Lipsticks, I thought I was buying their Glossy Lip Stains and grabbed the wrong products all together. Rather then return the items, I thought I would use them and review them. While I still use and love ELF products, I rarely blog about them like I used to, so I am pretty happy with like little accident.
I picked up two lipsticks in the shades, Effortless and Dirty Talk. Effortless is described as a Dusty Mauve, it is natural toned medium mauve shade. Dirty Talk is described as a Pink Beige, that goes on more beige then pink.
The cases are really sleek with matte black outsides and magnetic closing caps. The bullets themselves have an angular design and are embossed with e.l.f. on them. Dust is prone to sticking to it, so it may not be the best loose in a purse. Over a very sleek and stylish design for a lipstick that cost me $7.
Effortless
Dirty Talk
The formula is rich and smooth satin finish. It's almost matte, but velvety and goes on crease-free. I didn't find it drying and really enjoyed wearing it.
Me, wearing Effortless
Effortless is definitely a shade I'll be wearing a lot, in fact it is currently in my purse and I really am enjoying it. Dirty Talk is really pretty in the tube and I like the shade a lot, but I find that in the summer it is making me look a little dead. It is definitely because it is a beige, beiges often do this with my skin tone.
Me, wearing Dirty Talk
As for the colours, we'll I'm glad I got them. Both look a lot like my custom Bite shades, which really impressed me. I love my custom Bite shades, but they both snapped after 2 uses and for $150 I really hoped for a better experience.  I have no guilt using these when I'm out and about, unlike my pricy counterparts.

Bio Sculpture has quickly become my go to for top quality polishes with on trend shades that I absolutely adore. This winter they have a great collection, My Winter Garden, which shifts from fall browns and oranges to deeper version of shades that you might be drawn to anytime of year. Let's take a look at what the collection has to offer and what I think.

All these polishes went on extremely easily, leveled out and went on without any streaks. Two coats is all I needed to get my nails looking perfect.

NO. 265 CHIPPED BARK (Grape)

This is a dark purple with some grey tossed in for good measure. It makes it smoky and more winter toned without muting it.

NC. 266  CLAY PATHWAY (Clay)

When I think peach I think spring and summer, bright and sunny. Clay Pathway has totally blown my mind with how a peach can be winter friendly. It is somewhere between a peach and a clay and it just looks fabulous on my nails.

NO. 267 ORNAMENTED ARCH (Slate)

A grey that has some blue-green undertone but still looks like a nice winter grey. I really adore this shade for being darker but not ashy. I used to love light greys but since times have changed I have grown to love slate type greys and this one is perfect without being overly blue  (like Russian Blue cats).

NO. 268 BLUE MUSHROOM (Navy)

This one is truly stunning and the perfect cool weather blue. Two coats was all I needed for the perfect nail when I used it.

NO. 269 BERRY BLUSH (Merlot)

When I see reds in the winter I assume they are going to be blue-reds and shimmery reds for the holiday season. This on the other hand is a wine red with a certain level of greyness to it while staying neutral.

Overall I love these shades and I love the formula. They all went on smoothly and two coats where all I needed for an even streak-free application. My nails felt nice and strong with it one and it didn't chip on my as I went through my daily life, which almost never happens. The colours are all great for the winter, all with more grey added to them but not drowning out the colours or muting them.
Bio Sculpture's GEMNINI Line features a UV filter, plant hardening extracts like aloe vera and ginseng. They also have matching shades in their BioGel line so you can use them to touch up after a BioGel application in a salon. Finally Bio Sculpture polishes are 10-Free Non-Toxic, Cruelty-Free, Vegan, Award-winning and 5-Star Safety Rated.

You Can find Bio Sculpture GEMINI Nourishing Nail Polish line at BioSculpture.com, irisbodyandbeauty.com and salons that use Bio Sculpture. They retail for $20.50 Cad.

How do you feel about this collection? Is there a shade you are loving?

Catrice is a German brand that has been around for a while, but not here in Canada. I often heard about the brand as one of the ones to look out for when going to the USA or abroad and worth getting so many products from. That is why when I learned they were coming to Shoppers Drug Marts in Canada I got super excited.

I was lucky enough to be given some items to try out and review. So here we go.
Catrice has partnered with Beauty Influencer Eman to create three palettes, eye, cheek and highlight. She created the palettes to reflect places that influenced her life and I honestly think they are all gorgeous.

Catrice X Eman Lit Highlighter Palette ($14.99)
This shimmery highlight palette features four very different but equally stunning shades. Eman is Egyptian-Canadian and so this palette's shades take on various names of places in B.C. (except Maple, which is just very Canadian).
Whistler is a pearl white, Victoria is light gold, Surrey is a champagne and Maple is golden. All are intensely shimmery.
I am very drawn to Whistler and Surrey. I think this palette has a great range for all skin tones, I am super pale and can pull it off but so could almost anyone out there. I would suggest going lightly with it because it is highly pigmented and full of shimmer.

Catrice X Eman Cheeky Blush Palette ($14.99)
This palette has four gorgeous blushes that get their names from Eman's time in Egypt.
Shisha is a coral-pink, Alexandria is a bright pink with shimmer, Luxor is orange and Cairo is a matte tan shade.
This is a great palette because it has only four shades but they are all very different, you got a pink, a coral, tan and orange, you pretty much covered. The formula is smooth and fine, but incredibly pigmented. I used a duo-fibre brush as to not pick up too much product but still had to tap off excess.

These may be some of the strongest blushes I have ever used. I think this is fantastic because so many people have trouble with drug store blushes not having a lot of colour payoff.

Catrice X Eman Bronzed AF Eyeshadow Palette ($14.99)
Finally, we have an eyeshadow palette inspired by Eman's time in LA. This palette has 9 shades in it, 5 matte and 4 shimmers, all with bronzey tones to them.

I really love the large selection of mattes, I mainly wear mattes on workdays so it really makes me happy to see a palette with a good selection. The shimmers are buttery and blend out fantastically with lots of pay off.
Fairfax is a matte light beige, Sunset is matte tan, Melrose is a pink with gold shimmer, Malibu is shimmery taupy-brown, Laguna is a shimmery copper, Runyon is a brick-brown, Hollywood Blvd is a copper shimmer, Sweetzer is a matte dark brown and Mulholland Dr is matte black.
I found Sweetzer to be the right shade to use on my brows which makes this palette even more of a great palette for me. I really adore the Runyon and how the brick-brown shade looks a liner and have been using it a lot with Melrose on my lids.

The mattes are rich and blend out very well, the shimmer are very shimmery and buttery and also blend out very well. I do find the mattes actually can kick up a bit of powder in the pan, and the shimmers can create some fallout while applying. Neither of which actually bothers me and are quite easy to clean up.
Catrice Prime and Fine Keep Me Matt $9.99
Described as a "Lightweight primer minimizes shine and reduces optically the size of pores. Longlasting. Dermatologically tested".
This is definitely a primer more suited for those with oily skin, and I have dry, I will say I love the formula. It is lightweight, smooths my skin while helping my makeup go on smoother and longer. I mean it is a win-win kind of product. Sadly due to the dry skin, I cannot attest to how it helps with oil control.

Catrice Prime and Fine Multitalent Fixing Spray
This is a primer spray and setting spray in one. "Prepares the skin. Improves make up wear. Refreshes complexion" as the bottle says.

The spray has a light floral scent that I cannot place but absolutely love. The bottle has a great wide and misty spray to it that gives great coverage in a slow outpour without any streaky bits. One spray gives me all I need, but sometimes I go for a second. I really do love its actual spray bottle, it looks great, you can see what is left and the actual spray of product is one of my favourites for setting and refreshing my skin.

Catrice Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer in 010 Porcelain $7.99
This is a liquid concealer with a doe-foot wand. It claims it is ultra-long lasting and camouflages even tattoos. I have no tattoos, so I cannot tell if it does, but I will say it does a great job of neutralizing and covering my imperfections.
When I first saw this shade (porcelain) I thought it looked a bit beige and almost dead like, but as soon as I blended it out I saw how it neutralized all my redness and purple veiny spots I was won over. It blends out incredibly nicely and can be built up to very full coverage. In fact, I am only wearing concealer in my photos, no foundation or powder at all.

Catrice Generation Plump & Shine Lip Gloss in 030 Shimmery Goldstone $7.99
This is a shimmery gloss that is thick in texture yet not too sticky, it just kind of coats your lips and stays there. It is moderately pigmented so it works well over lipsticks or liners but also on its own
This shade is perfect for me for everyday wear, it kind of just works for me and lasts a long while.
Here is a look that I created using the products in this post. I used only the primer and concealer on my skin to correct imperfections.
Overall I really love these products. They are easy to find at Shoppers, they are great quality, strongly pigmented and affordable. When it comes to drug store, this really is a line you should check out.

I am definitely going to try out their foundations, more of the setting sprays, the all look great.

Have you tried anything from Catrice? What do you think of the brand?

Catrice Cosmetics can be found at Shoppers Drug Marts across Canada.

Essie's Winter collection is here and it is filled with glitter and cheer for the holiday season. I was lucky enough that the nice people at Nail Polish Canada sent all 6 shades to me to try out and review. The collection features six shades that have gold, red, green and blue holographic glitter in them, which is a nice cohesive touch.

All the shades are a bit thick due to the glitters in them and can look rough when dried, so it is best to apply a good topcoat. I like to use Essie Gel Setter Top Coat whenever I use an Essie polish and its glossy gel finish works really well with these polishes.

TIED & BLUE

Tied & Blue is a blue shimmer with the holographic glitter in it. It is a pretty standard blue, but the shimmer and holo glitter really pop with it making it quite festive for the winter.

CAUGHT ON TAPE

Caught on Tape is a warm gold shimmer with the holographic glitter in it. The gold is warm and rich, it comes off as quite metallic and shimmery when on the nails.

UNDER WRAPS

Under Wraps is a pine green shimmer with the holographic glitter in it. When applied you can really see the glitters and their colour changes. I definitely found that although the base polish is green, the blue in the glitters can give it a bit of a turquoise look.

KNOTTY OR NICE

Knotty or Nice is a red shimmer with the holographic glitter in it. It is the perfect holiday red shade. The red is a nice consistency that the holographic glitters really pop and give it a great shimmery look

LET IT BOW

Let It Bow is a platinum white shade of shimmer with the holographic glitter in it. It looks much more white in the jar than it looks on the nails, on the nails, it looks like a light silver shade. I needed three coats with this one to get full coverage. This shade seems the most wintery to me, that it reminds me of ice and snow. The glitters add a nice pop to it when they catch the light.
MAKING SPIRITS BRIGHT
Making Spirits Bright is a silver shimmer that runs cool with the holographic glitter in it. It looks very similar to Let It Bow when applied to the nails, just a bit darker.
The two silver shades are pretty similar when applied, while Under Wraps (green shade) looks a bit more teal then pine to me because of the glitter in it. The Under Wraps, Knotty Or Nice and Tied & Blue all show off the holographic glitters extremely well, whereas the metallics mask them a bit but still look stunning.

I really love the glittery theme, I love that all six shades have the gold, red, blue and green holographic glitter in them, tying the collection together all while being really festive and seasonal shades.
Swatches left to right:
  • Caught On Tape
  • Making Spirits Bright
  • Let It Bow
  • Under Wraps
  • Tied & Blue
  • Knotty Or Nice

A big thanks to Nail Polish Canada for sending me this collection to try out. Nail Polish Canada is a great place to find many nail polishes and other cosmetics with Canadian pricing and free shipping with orders over $29 or $5 flat shipping otherwise.
