Beauty Vixen

Christmas is almost here, but if you are anything like me you probably still have some gifts to buy. Today I am going to talk about some great stocking stuffers or value gifts you can easily find and pick up.

All these items are from FarleyCo, a great Candian distributor of beauty products, they can be found on their site but also many great stores like Rexall, London Drugs, Walmart and others. Check out FarleyCo.ca to find out where each brand is sold.

Flexitol Very Dry Skin Cream ($12.99):

Dry skin is all around this time of year, and I think I can fairly state that everyone would appreciate a little bit of extra skin cream in their lives.

I personally wash dogs for a living and then dry them, my skin gets dry and chapt and well frankly bleeds. One thing my skin cannot handle is fragrance this time of year or added water, which is why Flexitol's Very Dry Skin Cream is so great.

It is thick and a little goes a long long way, all the while being made for very sensitive skin that is reactive. It has 12.5 Urea in it, which is known to aid those with extremely dry skin. Safe for those with Eczema, Psoriasis, Dermatitis and just winter itchy skin this stuff is amazing I highly recommend trying it out. Oh, it also isn't greasy.

EcoTools Start the Day Beautifully Kit ($18.99):

With an eco outlook to their brand, EcoTools is one of the best brush lines out there. They always have great sets and kits that make for great gifts. This year their STart the Day Beautifully Kit caught my eye.

With 5 brushes (angled foundation, blurring, defined crease, angled liner, full blush brush) it has everything you need for your whole beauty look as well as a great tray to store them in and look cards to help you create the perfect look.

I think this set is the perfect gift for anyone who just doesn't' know where to start with makeup and brushes or a teenager. I remember getting my first brush set from my mom when I was 16 for Christmas and it started a love affair that has never ended. At $18.99 it makes a great stocking stuffer too.

7th Heaven Masks ($1.99+):
I love a good face mask, and I can almost be certain that your loved ones do too. 7th Heaven makes fantastic masks in pouches that mean you can pick up one or a few for everyone whos stocking you need to fill. They are easy, fun (I mean look at that packaging) and they are great quality. Since they are individually wrapped, they never dry out, get oxidized or get contaminated by our fingers, making, plus you can try out a who bunch of different one at a very low without committing to a large container, all at reasonable price point.

I have the Pink Guava Peel-Off one here, but I have in the past I have used their mud sheet masks and even foot ones. My hubby always loves a good peel-off mask, so this one is a great one to toss into his stocking this year.

Mesmoreyes Full 3D Lashes ($6.99):
Lashes are fun and always a welcome addition to my life, so if I like to get it I like to give it. Mesmoreyes Full 3D Lashes have multi-layered lashes for a 3D effect. They also have a bunch of different shapes available with handy eye shape descriptions so you can get the right fit for your lashes (or your loved one).
I really love Mesoreyes' lashes, they are fantastic quality at a good price. Plus clear bands are what I love so I love these (naturally).
Real Techniques Mini Brushes ($8.99):
I love REal tEchniques, this should be no surprise to you. I have so many of their brushes, sponges and sets, all of which I love. Their Miracle Sponge is my ride or die sponge, you will be prying that from my dead hands one day. That being said RT has some great mini brushes for the holidays. I have the Mini Medium Sculpting Brush here and it is adorable.

So it is tiny, which automatically makes it adorable, but it is also just as good as the full-sized versions. There also is an Expert Mini Face and Mini Multitask Brush. Pop one of these into a stocking and I am sure you are going to hear an AWWW because it is so darn cute.

So there you have it, some fun beauty stocking stuffer ideas. I personally would love to get any of them in my stocking this year.

What do you love to find in your stocking?

IMATS returned to Toronto last month for an interesting September visit. I was very glad it got pushed up to before Halloween this year, but sadly did not feel inspired for any SFX Halloween costume purchases.  I did however attend a lecture (I haven't been to one in a very long time), shopped a lot and went both days.

Morphe:
Last year I really fell in love with Morphe brushes, some are the same as Crowns, but many are in a class all of their own. I swore I was not going to go brush crazy as I now have 300+ brushes at home, but I am weak. I spent $80 on all these lovely babies. I am so excited to try out the contour brush at the top.
the line again for the Morphe booth
I must warn the lines at this booth are crazy, crazy! I missed my window on the Saturday for a quick in and out. Rather than spend 2 hours in line (2 HOURS!) I came back on the Sunday with a friend. It still took 40 minutes but was way less stressful.

$1 Lashes:
As in years past, I went nuts on lashes. I seriously don't ever wear lashes, but if I do, I wear these babies. I used the ones I got last year for my new sister in-law for her wedding day and I think they were just perfect to work with. They have a clear band and they look really great. I got them at Cici cosmetics, by Sunday they were all sold out of them. In the past I got them at Namies for 7 for $10 but I thought this booth had equally good lashes (the same I think) for $1 each. My goal this upcoming year is actually wear them more often.

Royal and Langnickel:
Royal and Langnickel make both cosmetic and artist brushes, the booth obviously just had makeup brushes. I've only ever used a few of their brushes in the past, but this year they really seemed to have drawn me in. I first saw their $10 MODA sets and then I just went a little crazy.
For $10 they had 7 brush sets with case and drying stand in bright bright colours. I chose both types of sets and in purple.
Then I got a $4 Complexion brush from there Pink Essentials line.

Finally I found and fell for their Love Is ... Kindness line of brushes. I picked up a mini set for $25 and a full sized for $30. I chose to get them in a brush container vs a roll. These babies are super soft and I cannot wait to start using them. I got them with the cream holder and pink brushes.

Benefit:
Benefit had a booth offering 35% off and a gift if you bought 3 products. I picked myself up the only two blushes I didn't have, Rockateur and Hervana. I also got Cha Cha Tint since I didn't have it. I picked friends up some other items (They're Real liner, Hoola Bronzer and Roller Lash Mascara). I got two crease-less cream eyeshadows free (Skinny Jeans and No Pressure). I also found a random eyeshaodow in my bag when I got home, I didn't steal it, I think it just got tossed in (it is in the shade Call My Bluff).

So that is all I bought. I went brush crazy, again, and need some type of rehab.

I enjoyed the show, I wish it wasn't so crazy crowded every time I go, but so is a show like IMATS. I did enjoy the lecture I heard, I think next year I will cafeniate myself better so that I can attend more.

I also had a great meet up with some CBB girls and even had brunch with them. It was nice to get to know them better and just enable each others shopping habits.

A few weeks back Toronto hosted another fantastic IMATS. I was luck enough to go on the Sunday and get some goodies I had been wanting for a long time.

Morphe Brushes:
I always want brushes. I have problems. Usually I check out the Crown brush stand but this year I went to Morphe. For the most part they offer the exact same brushes, but I was drawn to the Gun Metal line which I had never seen before. I grab quite a bit of those and some classic brushes that were the same as Crowns (duo fiber, badger, and studio pro). When It was all said and done I spend $99 on the brushes, I'm very happy.

Beauty So Clean:
Beauty So Clean is a makeup artist staple and while I still had some of the makeup cleaner at home I wanted to get more brush cleaner and wipes. All together I spent $15. Not shabby at all.

Beauty Blender:
I love love love my beauty blenders. I refuse to pay the crazy prices at Sephora for them thought. At the show a booth had them for $20 each of 2 for $30. I had to grab some for a friend so it worked out I only paid $15 for this baby. I was super excited to get the new mini version...can't wait to try it out.

Makeup Forever:
One place I was not expecting to go to was the Makeup Forever booth. They offer 40% off items and other deals just for the event. As a result it has the longest lines. Since I have friends who get the Pro Discount of 40% all year round I never thought it was worth the hassle. Lucky for me I got to the show so early I was near the front of the line to enter which meant no Makeup Forever line.
They had a great deal on where for $40 plus tax you got 4 of their Aqua Matic liners. I am super excited to use these, they can be used for both lip and eye liners.

Bdellium Tools:
Last year I fell in love with Bdellium Tools and got a bunch of their brushes. This year I was a bit more reserved and only got 6. I most are repeats from last year that I loved to much. Eeek, more brushes...I'm happy.
Nigels:
Nigel's Beauty Emporium is famous with makeup artists around the world for their selection of pro products. I love their cheap lashes...I mean I love them. I have never been the best with lashes on myself, but since discovering them last year  I haven't been able to screw them up once. Best part is they were 15 for $20 this year. I also got mini pointed q-tips which are amazing when doing makeup and you need a little correction or smudger.
The Blur Room:

The Blur room is a great place in Toronto to get makeup staples and supplies. I heard so much good stuff about Clean Brush shampoo that I decided to get a very large container of the Rose and Goats Milk cleanser, it was $12. Now if only I could get someone to wash my gigantic brush collection.

I went to Pacific Mall yesterday and picked up at Phoenix Beauty Lunge some NYX polishes, OPI Black shatter and some NYX Lashes.
NYX lashes were on sale for $4.99. I got 2 pairs of 104 lashes (cut them in half and get 4 pairs of 1/2 lashes that rock), one 117 and one 113 lashes. Great deal.
I just snip them in the centre for 1/2 lahes
They also had a deal on nail polish, buy 3 get 15% off. So I got NYX in peach avenue and purple avenue as well as opi black shatter.
I then went and got 2 hello kitty cups. One is a mug with a lid (great for keeping hair out of it, keeping it warm and a place to put a tea bag when done with it) and an espresso cup with saucer. Too cute so I had to add them to the haul. $7.99 and $9.99 great deal.
I also went to Curry's art store and got what is my new palette....but I can't explain that well...so watch the video...
Here is black shatter over Mark Nailed It in Mojito...

Over this past weekend I managed to pick up some makeup goodies. I am quite proud of myself since I am waiting for the IMATS.

NYX Lashes:
I went to Pacific Mall for some shopping with my man and found a store that sells all of NYX line. I mean ALL of it! I picked up the EL 104  lashes for $7.99. I wanted them for halloween, other wise I would have waited until after the IMATS. Regardless I have never seen their lashes in Canada, or many of these items. Now I know where to get them, so I can go back any time.

Revlon Lipsticks:
Walmart is having a sale, 40% off all Revlon lip products. I already buy my Revlon lipsticks at Walmart because they are much cheeper than at the drugstores, but an additional 40% made my weekend.

  • Revlon Matte Lipstick - Nude Attitude
  • Revlon Colorburst Lipstick - Raspberry
  • Revlon Colorburst Lipstick - Blusb
  • Revlon Colorburst Lipstick - Soft Nude
They all came to just under $5 before tax, so I felt that was a great deal.

Sally Hansen:
This one I picked up at the Dollarama for $2. It is a smaller mascara (oh how I love smaller tubes of mascara) and it is in black/brown. It is part of Sally Hansen's Natural Beauty, Inspired By Carmindy line that seems to keep on popping up at dollaramas lately. The wand is fine but seems extremely goopy when I removed it fro the tube. It is almost like the part that is supposed to remove the excess product does not really work. I feel I am going to have to wipe a lot of excess off before each use.
