Relaxing and getting a good night's sleep hasn't been easy for me the last year and a half, and I am guessing it might not have been the easiest for a lot of you either. Baths have become a solid part of my nighttime and mental health routine ever since the first shut down last spring. Even with baths, getting to sleep and staying asleep has been a regular challenge. This is where Dr. Teal's Melatonin line of bath products comes into play.

Dr. Teal's Sleep Bath Melatonin Foaming Bath and Dr. Teal's Melatonin Sleep Soak Epsom Salt both have soothing scents that contain actual essential oils as well as Melatonin to help you relax and have a deeper sleep.

-Melatonin helps regulate sleep and wake cycles
-Lavender and Chamomile essential oils help reduce stress and encourage relaxation
-Promotes a better night’s sleep.
-Long lasting bubbles gently cleanse
-Paraben-free  ~drteals.com

The formula has a rich Lavender scent that is accented by Chamomile and Patchouli. Mixed together in the formula it comes off as less heavy than straight lavender. It also is super relaxing to breathe in. Melatonin is in it to help relax your body, as well as the Epson Salt that is in both formulas.

Dr. Teal's Foaming Baths are by far my favourite bubble baths out there. They are gigantic in size, produce huge bubbles and are not drying to the skin all while being affordable. This formula has Shea Butter in it to help hydrate the skin. They never leave a ring around my tub and even have Epsom Salt in them for muscle pains. The Sleep Bath formula is no exception. This stuff foams up and smells great.

Dr. Teal's Epsom Salts have also been reviewed on here a few times. I love them because you really don't need a ton to get the scent pay off.  I often find myself using far less than the 2 cups they recommend, but since I actually want to get the most out of the Melatonin in it I actually do use 2 cups.

They also recommend mixing it with your body wash and using it as a scrub (homemade scrubs are always awesome). They also recommend soaking in it for at least 20 minutes (my baths are now approximately 90 mins to 2 hours long so it is not a problem at all for me).

I definitely found while using these two products, and often together that my muscles were less soar (and man have they been soar lately) which is a major part of my nighttime restlessness. As well the relaxing scent helps get me into a bedtime routine feel a lot faster. I actually started to brush my teeth and do my skincare before my baths because I often start to drift off in the tub and want to go right to bed without losing that feeling.

Overall I love these two products alone and together. Now that the weather is cooling down I feel I will be using them nightly in my ridiculously long baths. My muscles feel less sore and I get into a very relaxed state using them and I end up sleeping better all around. There really is no downside to them.

What do I love, BATHS! One thing I learned from my mom from a baby on is to love a nice hot bath. I have always loved a good soak over a shower and as I've aged this has only become more constant for me. I work hard at a pretty physical job and I honestly appreciate the comfort and relaxation of a good bath after a long day, and since I am no longer an 18-year-old by body loves the heat and therapeutic properties of a good salt bath.

In the past I talked about Dr. Teal's Sooth & Sleep, which is a lavender-infused Epson salt, now I am going to talk to you about two other Dr. Tealès products I have been using and loving.

Relax & Relief Pure Epsom Salt Soaking Solution with Eucalyptus & Spearmint:
Ingredients: Magnesium sulphate (Epsom salt), fragrance, Eucalyptus globulus leaf oil, mentha viridis leaf oil.
This Epsom Salt Soaking Solution consists of traditional Magnesium Sulfate Epsoms Salt but has Eucalyptus and Spearmint essential oils added to it. I find I actually need very little of the salt to get a very strong effect from the eucalyptus and spearmint, so what I usually do it add as much as I like scent wise and then add some regular Epsom salt to my bath depending on how bad my muscles are, this way I save the fancy stuff and don't overdo the essential oils in the air and on my skin. The end result is a nice bath and a very decongested me.

I get very congested in the winter from the dry weather, constant colds and allergies, in the summer seasonal allergies get me almost every day, so the mixture in this really helps alleviate those symptoms while I am relaxing in my nightly bath. Mint is also one of my all-time favourite scents/herbs/flavours so I find it very relaxing. Any way you work it, I feel better when I use it.

Super Moisturizer Avocado Oil Mineral Soak:
Ingredients: Sodium sequicarbonate, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, corn starch, isopropyl palmitate, avocado oil, DL panthenol, fragrance, tocopheryl acetate (Vitamin E), Allantoin.
I started to use this soak in January when my skin was incredibly parched and chapt. Despite my dryness, I was taking extremely hot baths because I would get so cold and wet on my commute that nothing less would warm me back up. I realize it was a terrible idea, but dry flaky skin and out of control KP was a small price to pay to finally be warm.

The avocado oil sits as a thin film on the top of your bath, so when you get up it coats you and water repels off you, which is kind of nice and did leave my skin soft and mildly hydrated. The mixture also has Sodium Bicarbonate, which is baking soda, an ingredient that is well known to help soothe dry or sensitive skin. It is a nice alternative to Epsom salts and has a very light fragrance so it didn't set off my sensitive skin.

Overall, I found that Relax & Relief Soak so to be a nice change up from straight Epsom salt baths and really did help me breathe better and relax a bit more. That being said that Super Moisturizer Avocado Oil was a nice option that was mineral salts to help keep me more hydrated during the really dry months. I would purchase either one again but may try out some of their other options in the future. So far Dr. Teal's hasn't let me down yet.

Do you like Baths or Showers? Do you have a favourite product to add to your bath?
