Trying to go low waste? Plastic Free? Vegan? Travel Friendly? Maybe you're just looking for something that takes up less space in your shower. Well if any of those are the case you Foamie Shampoo and Conditioner bars might be a great option for you. They come in a paper box (making it a plastic) and with a rope so you can hang them in the shower for less soapy mess in between. They have a curve to them, which makes them easy to grip and match the shape of your scalp, making for easy use.

I recently tried the Hibiskiss versions out, which is meant for damaged, hair and has hibiscus and nettle in it. They have a mild hibiscus scent to them.
I love the shampoo bar, it has been fantastic the last few months, especially since I started swimming. I generally wet my hair thoroughly and then rub it down my scalp and then to the ends of my hair while holding it with my other hand. I make sure not to rub in just one downward direction and not back and forth as to not mat up my hair. I then massage it around until I feel an adequate amount of lather has formed and then I rinse it off.

I feel it does a great job of cleaning my hair while not stripping it. I really like using it and how my hair feels.

I was super happy to try the conditioner out, because I have never tried one before. Sadly, I was pretty disappointed. I don't know if my technique is off or if it just isn't right for me. I usually rub in one directions and then focus on my ends, but I don't find does a thing. That being said I haven't stopped using it, I just use a regular conditioner after.

Ingredients: TRITICUM VULGARE (WHEAT) STARCH, HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE GLYCERIDES, DISODIUM LAURYL SULFOSUCCINATE, SODIUM COCOYL ISETHIONATE, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, CITRIC ACID, COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE, THEOBROMA CACAO (COCOA) SEED BUTTER, THEOBROMA GRANDIFLORUM (THEOBROMA) SEED BUTTER, AQUA (WATER), COCOS NUCIFERA (COCONUT) OIL, PARFUM (FRAGRANCE), SODIUM CHLORIDE, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED OIL, TOCOPHEROL, HIBISCUS SABDARIFFA FLOWER EXTRACT, SODIUM BENZOATE, POTASSIUM SORBATE, HEXYL CINNAMAL, LINALOOL, ALPHA-ISOMETHYL IONONE, CITRONELLOL, LIMONENE, CI 77491 (IRON OXIDES), CI 77891 (TITANIUM DIOXIDE)

Overall I really like the Foamie brand, I love their body wash (which I talk about here) and I love the shampoo bar, the conditioner is a bit more disappointing to me. I do enjoy that they are plastic free, extremely low waste, vegan and take up almost no space hanging in my shower. Also a big bonus is they aren't liquid so they are travel friendly and the small bars replace a whole bottle. I do think my hair is just too damaged and my water too hard to make the conditioner work, but it may work well for others.

Have you tried shampoo and conditioner bars before? What do you think of them?
