Guest Post: Makeup Up Your Mind - Mexican Flag Inspired Makeup Look

By Tuesday, May 05, 2015 , , , , , , , , ,

Hello everyone! My name is Chelle and I’m reporting in for duty on Jill’s blog while she’s off having a phenomenal time in Mexico. Raise your hand if you’re envious, cuz I sure am!

If you like what you see today, come take a peek over at Makeup Your Mind where I post about makeup with a side of fitness.

Since Jill’s off in Mexico, I thought I’d use the main colours on the Mexican flag for makeup inspiration.

Although not commonly used by the general public, I’m a *huge* fan of red eyeshadow. I’ve used it rather subtly in this look, choosing only to line my lower lash line with it. To balance this out, I made sure to add a black wing and tightline my water lines. This helps separate the whites of your eyes from the red and alleviate some of the bloodshot look you can get with red eyeshadow.

I also really like how well the bold red lip helped to complement the whole look without looking cartoon-ish (or so I think anyway!).

Here’s what I used to get the look:

Eyes
Makeup Geek Creme Brule through the crease.
Makeup Geek Whites Lies on the inner half of the lid.
MAC Landscape Green pigment on the outer half of the lid.
Makeup Geek Bling on the brow bone.

I created the wing with MAC‘s Blacktrack fluidline and then tightlined my upper and lower lash lines with Urban Decay‘s Black Velvet liner. On my lower lash line I applied MAC‘s Strike While Haute eyeshadow and blended it out the edges with Makeup Geek‘s Creme Brule. On my lashes is Make Up For Ever‘s Smoky Stretch mascara.

Rest of the Face
Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in shade 52 Vanilla
Bronzer: Hard Candy Hula Hula
Blush: essence Life’s a Cherry
Highlighter: MAC Whisper of Gilt
Lips: NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella

I hope you’ve enjoyed the look! Thanks for stopping by.
