Beauty Vixen

Sometimes I get all caught up in trying to create blog posts on certain products or topics that I forget that blogging is sometimes about the daily things. Thus I am starting a new series, Five Things I am Loving Right Now. Hopefully I will do this seasonally, but maybe more often then that if the mood strikes. The whole point is to share with your the stuff I am using daily and getting some good use out of. Sometimes I might be in the process of writing a full post on the products, sometimes I will be revisiting past products that I am still loving (or rediscovered) and sometimes just products I want to give a good shout out to.

I big shout out to Madeline from Classically Contemporary. We recently had a little chit-chat and she inspired me to start this series (because that is what friends do, inspire us to be better).
Palmer's Cocoa Butter Skin Therapy Skin Oil
I reviewed this way back in 2015 and loved it and its accompanying face oil and oil cleanser. While I may of got these three items from PR back then, I actually used them up and re-bought them more then once (which frankly I never end up using anything up anymore, so I am impressed).

First off it is like Bio Oil, yes. But it also cost about $10, has a pump and contains no mineral oil. Plus my skin really loves it. Since it is safe for the face I have been using it a lot more then I would have thought on my face this winter. I just have been so dry this past season and this has been the answer to my skin problems.
Wet N Wild Photo Focus Pressed Powder
I have been meaning to blog about Wet N Wild's new foundation collection for what feels like forever, but alas I have not. So while I can tell you I really love the foundation, the powder is maybe the item I love the most. I have been having one heck of the time with my face skin being dry and flaky when I apply any foundation, heck even BB or tinted moisturizer, so when I say this powder leaves my skin looking nice and cake free I am pretty impressed. In fact I did something I haven't done in years, I hit pan! I fully plan on repurchasing this powder (and the foundation for that matter)
Pixi by Petra Matteluster Lipstick in Rose*
Last year Pixi by Petra returned to Canada, I for one was pretty excited. I was happy to have access to their makeup again but also their new skin care products. I fell in love with their Mattluster lipstick in Rose. It is a moisturizing formula that is still semi-matte, which I think looks great for day to day wear. It also happens to be this great rose-nude shade that looks great on my skin and I can wear just about all the time.
Vichy Idealia Day Care Moisturizing Cream*
As mentioned above, my skin hasn't been behaving well. I am going to be blaming bad weather, lack of sleep, and some crazy hormones. Vichy's Idealia line is meant for skin that is subjected to pollution, lack of sleep, poor diets and hormone issues, pretty much me. That being said whenever my skin starts acting all messed up, I go back to Idealia and remember why I love it so much and wonder why I ever tried anything else.
L'oreal Micellar Water Complete Cleanser - All Skin Types*
I love a good Micellar water, but often find I have a hard time removing my waterproof makeup. Since I wear waterproof mascara and liner almost every single day, it kind of gets pointless, I end up tugging more then removing and am never satisfied. I discovered this duo-phase version from L'oreal and was amazed at how well it removed everything from my face without any film left on my skin. It also happens to be Oil, Fragrance, Alcohol and Soap Free, meaning my dry and sensitive skin stays calm and doesn't get reactive or angry.
There are 5 beauty items I am really loving right now. Not only am I using them almost daily, but I am using them up, which is impressive for me.

What are some items you are loving right now?

*items marked with an asterisk were give to me from PR. All views and opinions are my own.

Exciting news guys, Wet N Wild is launching a bunch of new products in 2018, and they are all coming to Canada! I for one am super stoked about this news because I just adore Wet n Wild and I manged to get a peek at the times at a showcase a few weeks back and everything was AMAZING! I really cannot wait.

Mega Cushion:
First up WNW's Cushion Colour Correctors, Highlighter and Bronzer are all coming to Canada in the new year. They have been in the USA and online for a while, but now we too can access them, and that is pretty exciting to me.

Cushions are such a popular trend right now, so it is only natural WNW would jump into making some themselves, but only a few high end brands make colour correctors in it, so it is nice to see that they are going to be much more accessible to the general public.

The line will feature a Green, Peach and Lavender Correctors, a Bronzer and a Highlighter. The best part is (other then the fantastic formula) that they are going to be $7.99 Canadian, which makes snatching them all up extremely affordable.

Color Icon:
Another think that has gotten me super excited is that their eyeshadow palettes are getting a significant makeover. The trios are getting a fourth transition shade (thus becoming quads)  and the larger eight shade palettes are getting two new transition shades. They both are also getting newer improved formula. Since these are some of their most popular products, it is pretty exciting to be getting more shades and a formula upgrade.

The best thing is that loved palettes aren't going anywhere. Below is a photo of the old and new Sweet As Candy palette as well as Comfort Zone. Plus they are adding new palettes to the ranges. The Quads are getting three new ones, bringing the total to number of palettes to six and the 10-Pans are getting three more making the total in the line four.
They WNW didn't forget their Eyeshadow Singles, they have gotten a new look and formula too. They'll be $1.99 Cad when they launch next year.
There is also going to be new Glitter Singles. Single pan glitter shadows infused with vitamin E in seven shades.

Hello Halo:
The product I am most excited for is Hello Halo, a liquid highlight. In a tube with super fat doe-foot applicator, these creamy highlighter are just freakin' awesome. I feel in love with them at the showcase, especially the Holographic shade.
There are going to be seven shades in total, ranging from halo, bronzy to rose gold. The shades Halo and Holographic both have me wanting them. Before I tried them I was obsessed with getting CoverFx's holographic shade, but as soon as I saw this that idea went out  the window. These are so darn pretty I just cannot properly express how great they are. And the best part is they are only $7.99 Cad, so you don't have spend a fortune to get them.

Other Additions:
In addition to these new items in the line up some other items are getting additions.  Their Perfect Pour Gel Lip Liners are getting six new shades bringing the range to total of twelve. Photo Focus Setting Spray will be gaining a Matte version. There are going to be new retractable Brow Pencils which look amazing. Those white and pink brushes that have only been in the USA or online for the last two years are finally making their Canadian debut. Finally their MegaGlow Highlighting Powder is getting some new shades added to its already popular line up, bringing the number available up to six.

All in all there are so many incredible new items coming to Canada from Wet n Wild it is a bit hard to contain myself. I am lucky enough to have a few already in my hands, but I am going to hunt down the Hello Halo sticks as soon as they get to Canada. As well I am going to update my eyeshaodw collection, I love my old trios, but the new quads look so much better and frankly for the cost there is no way I can pass up getting new ones.

What new Wet N Wild items interest you the most? What do you think of the new stuff?

Recently all I have been crazing is an amazing glowy highlight. While I do have quite the collection of high end highlighters, I also have a bunch of drug store ones that I absolutely adore.Today I am looking at some of the more affordably options in my collection.

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter ($5.99)
I had heard so many amazing things about this hightlighter I just had to try it. Essence is a pretty darn decent value brand and heck Temptalia even gave it an A-, which is pretty impressive for any highlighter. It took me about 6 months until I found a store that actually had it in stock, but I am so glad I found it. I love it. Not too light or dark, it is almost my skin tone, but gives a gorgeous illuminating glow without the need for sparkles particles. Just pure glow here.
Essence is online, at Shoppers Drug Marts and Lowblaw's stores.

Gosh Contour n Strobe Kit
This strobe kit is my everything right now. Every single time I wear it I get complements on my highlight. Very similar to the Essence in tone and glow, it also comes with some blush that is pretty nude and glowy and two contour shades. Together these shades make an all in one that is just fantastic. I love it so darn much. You can play up or down the glow depending on the look or mood you are going for, making it super versatile.
Gosh can be found at Shoppers Drug Mart.

Hard Candy Just Glow! Baked Illuminating Duo in Candle Lit
This is a duo that attempts to dupe the luminescent look of Hourglass Ambient light powders, but at a much better price point. I have an Ambient powder in Mood Light and honestly cannot get it to work on my skin at all. These come with two shades, one a bit more glowy and one more matte (? more like the Hourglass), but neither are over the top or over pigmented. They work together really well or on their own. Hard Candy makes two version of it, Candle Lit (lighter and less shimmery ) and Twinkle Star (a bit darker and way more shimmery). I really like Candle Lit and don't really like Twinkle Star, it is just too shimmery and gritty in its shimmer. Click here to see some swatches of it and a bit more details.

Hard Candy can be found at Walmart.

Glow All The Way Baked Bronzer
I have been through oh so many of these, not because I used them up (they are massive, that isn't an easy task), because the packaging keeps on breaking. Hard Candy's one downfall is the hinges always break on me. But they are cheap so when I see them in stock (after months of looking) I'll just re-buy it. Tiki is the lightest shade of this technically bronzer, but it matches my skin tone to a tee (mac Nw/Nc 15 by the way). To others with anything but pale skin it will make a great highlight. Since it matches my skin tone it adds the perfect glow.

Hard Candy Glow All The Way Baked Trio
I have this in 3rd wheel, and while I love it there is still that packaging issue that many Hard Candy items have (they break). It has a blush, highlight and bronzer all in one that work pretty well on my skin tone. The price point for the product makes it prety amazing, plus it covers blush and bronzer at the same time giving it extra value. They make other shades too, and while I like them , I can only justify having one in my collection right now or I risk going into complete hoarder territory. Want to see some swatches, click here.

Joe Fresh Highlight Powder in Luster

There isn't a whole lot to be said about this one, it is a powder highlighter that looks fantastic. It is a but more pigmented then others in my collection and runs a tad bit on the orange side. It looks great in the summer or when you want a more bonzy highlighter.

Joe Fresh is found at both Shoppers Drug Marts and Loblaw's/Superstores.

Joe Fresh Highlighter Stick in Pink Pearl

Another fantastic highlighter from Joe Fresh. It is pretty hard to find an amazing drug store cream highlighter, making this one extra exciting. Pink Pearl has somehow become my go to cream highlighter. It has zero chunky bits of glitter to it, and has an amazing light pink colour to it. It blends amazingly well and gives you a gorgeous glow. You can also find it on a few other shades, but this one is my absolute favourite.

Wet n Wild to Reflect
I love these. They used to only be available in the USA under the Fergi line. I picked one up about 4 years ago in Boston and fell in love. When they re-branded the line and launched it here in Canada I went and got all three shades. They are a beautiful baked highlight/blush that has natural swirls of colours in it. If you love Mac's mineralized skin finishes but want to save some money get theses. They are just as good if not better and wayyyyy cheaper. I personally really love all of them, but Boozy Brunch with its gold, bronze and pink makes such a beautiful colour when combined I cant help but feel love towards it. It also has the most gold tones in it, making it so much more of a highlightery shade. I also love the drinky names (I'll have a cosmo, too cute).
Wet n Wild  MegaGlo Highlighting Powder
If you want to glow, and I mean glow, this is the highlighter for you. It is practically metallic. You think it is just an overspray, but it isn't, the whole pan is like that. *insert squeal here*). This is by far the most stunning highlight I have seen in a long time, there is a reason it is hard to find.

Do you have a favourite drug store highlighter? I clearly have a few.

Wet n Wild recently launched a ton of new products in Canada, one that is getting a lot of attention lately is their Liquid Catsuit liquid lipsticks. I received two at an event that I attended and bought 3 shortly after when I found them at my local Walmart.
The lipstick's doe foot have a curve to, making application easier. I personally like to flip it around to use the tip to line my lips more accurately. The formula feels like most other liquid lipsticks out there, I think it most replicates Stila's formula. It dries quickly to a matte finish and stays put pretty well. I do find it isn't as long lasting as other high end versions, but pretty darn good and for $6.99 you really cant go too wrong if you ask me.

Also the line has 13 shades, they are vegan and can be found at Walmart, Superstore and some Rexalls for $6.99 MSRP.
Pink Real Hard:
Pink Real Hard is a pretty nudy pink that suited my skin tone quite nicely. I had no streaking problems or any issues with it and the lines on my lips. Since I love a nude or pink nude shade for my liquid lipsticks this one made pretty darn smitten.

Coral Corruption:
Sort of the coral version of Pink Real Hard, Coral Corruption is a nude coral. I really love how it is more nude then coral but looks great with so many looks. I think it is great for my skin tone, so that means I am loving it.

Video Vixen:
I at first was super stoked to find this shade, finally a Vixen shade that wasn't called 'Violet Vixen' (I already own 3). I also thought it wasn't purple at first, but it is. In reality it is a really dark burgundy shade with just a hint on purple to it (hence a burgundy). It also is a real streaky mess. No matter how hard I tried I could not get this liquid lipstick to look even on my lips.

Oh My Dolly:

If you want a bold pink, then Oh My Dolly is for you. It is a really bright pink but doesn't rely on white to make it pop on the lips. I had no problems with this lip shade at all, in fact I love it a lot.

Flame of the Game:
This is yet another bold shade, bold orange that is. I love a bright orange lipstick so this one was right up my alley. I am so in love with how Flame of the Game goes on the lips and dries. It looks just fantastic and has some great coverage.

Overall, I love the formula of these liquid lipsticks, they dry nice on the lips and can hold up to quite a bit. While I have higher end ones that cost 4 times the price that last a bit longer, for the price they really are worth it. Wet n Wild has a great shade range too, so my 5 give you a little taste of what is out there, nudes, bolds, pinks, corals. I love all of these shades except Video Vixen, which is sad because it was the one I wanted the most and was most excited about. I personally will be picking up a few more next time I see them at my local Walmart, after all I don't have a red yet.

Have you tried any of these new liquid lipsticks yet? What do you think of them?

*Some of these products were provided for me through PR for review purposes, others were purchased with my own money. All views and opinions are my own and honest regardless.

Wet n Wild is launching a plethora of new products this spring here in Canada, which is pretty darn exciting. Wet n Wild has been a staple value brand for me and many others for many years.
This new batch of products adds on to some already pretty strong products in their collection.  Today I am going to show you the new items and give you a bit of a low down on them.

Au Natural Eyeshadow
Au Natural has two options, Bare Necessities and Nude Awaking. Each palette has 10 shades and various textures in it (sheer, matte, shimmers). I have Nude Awaking, and while I haven't played with it too much yet, I am pretty darn impressed with it and really like the palette as a whole.
Gel Lip Liner
Wet n' Wild's new liners are retractable and have a gel texture to them. I find they glide on easily and don't skip over my lip scars like traditional liners, which is a rare but fantastic thing.  I definitively plan on hunting some more down as soon as they are in stores.

Photofocus Foundation, Concealer and Pressed Powder
No one wants flashback when having their photos taken. Wet n Wild's new Photofocus line has been tested in 7 different lighting conditions with and without flashes to make sure there is no flashback.
The foundation comes in 20 shades, concealer 6 and the powder 8.
MegaGlo Makeup Stick
These sticks help you just swipe on the colour you're looking for. Whether it's concealer, blush, highlight or contour they have you covered. The contour has 3 shades, concealer 3, blush  3 and 1 for the hightlight. I love the idea of these for travel because they can't leak or spill on you.

Liquid Catsuit Liquid Lipstick
Wet n Wild has liquid lipsticks!!! Not much else to say here. They are inexpensive and pretty darn fantastic (with a cute name to boot). I am loving these so much. They dry matte and last a crazy long time. With 13 shades I have decided I have to get more, Video Vixen is calling this Vixen's name (a lipstick with vixen in name that isn't actually purple, amazing).
MegaGlo Dual-ended Contour Stick
Contour and highlight in one stick is always a good thing. I already have two others similar to this so I cannot wait to do a comparison review. You can get it in light/medium or medium/tan.
PerfectPout Gel Lip Balm
Gel lip balms are always a great addition to any lineup. With a hint of colour and a moisturizing gel texture these balms help keep your lips healthy and happy. They also happen to be fragrance free for those who really don't like scents.
Makeup Remover
This is a bi-phase micellar water for your face. Just shake and then pump it out on to a cotton pad. The lid locks so it wont leak if you take it with you on a trip or to the gym. I love micellar water and pumps, so I really can't say a single thing bad about this one...it is a great idea..
Ultimate Brow Kit
With tweezers, an angled brush, two colours of powder and a wax, this is great palette for brows that you can travel with.
Lash Renegade Mascara
This mascara has a crazy wand with ball tip. It also has a geometric package, which means that you can hold the top and have total control when twisting it. The formula has fibres that boost volume and give length.
MegaGlo Highlight Powder
This new highlighter comes in two shades, Precious Petals and Crown of My Canopy. These highlighters contain pearls and are incredibly illuminating. I am really excited to give them a shot, I happen to have Precious Petals.
The Saving Base
This a a base coat for your nails  that has a 10-in-1 formal, so let's list the 10 things it can help your nails with.  Brightens, strengthens, conceals, moisturizes, protects, fills ridges, smooths, primes, perfects and improves the wear of your nail colour.
So there you go new goodies from Wet n Wild that you will soon be able to find right here in Canada. I am going to run off to play with these and get some reviews going for you guys.

Anything new from Wet n Wild you are interested in trying out?
