Beauty Vixen

Recently the cosmetics brand Quo tuned 16; the brand chose to party it up in celebration of the occasion with a swanky party where they showed off their new 2016 collection.
The party had custom manicures, tasty baked treats from Bobbette and Belle as well all of their new collection on display and to play with.
While I wish I could have gotten a manicure (I love and own many Orly by Quo polishes), my nails were split and my hangnails were out of control, so it would have been a waist. They had a great little sign that featured a bunch of designs that you could get done at one of the manicure stations.
Their new lip products impressed me a lot. There are new lip stains (don't think crazy lip stains, think thin and lightly tinted, like Benetint), Refillable lip glosses (amazing idea), lip velours, lipgloss sets, tinted lip balms (they call them lip cocktails), "Colour Overload" lip glosses (full pigment gloss) and finally new lipsticks that have a fantastic hounds-tooth pattern embossed into them(they are so pretty). There is even a clear lip liner, for those days you need to reverse line your lips to prevent feathering.
The Colour Overload Glosses swatched
In the palette department they have launched some exciting stuff. There are two contour kits and two eye-shadow palettes. The brush in the contour kit is worth buying the set for alone, but the set is also really nice (win-win right there).
They are also mono eye-shadows being launched. All of which come in more neutral shades and are really just pretty for any time of day or night.
For the rest of the face there is refillable Cushion Foundation (amazing) and blush cheek sticks

Brow powder in a tube, a custom brow set, super thin automatic brow pencil and brow enchanting double ended pencil.
Blue mascara, mascara primer self curling mascara to you "holy grail" massacre they have your lashes covered.
Liner wise they have both Micro tipped brush tip liquid liners as well as a vinyl liner joining their new line, all under the name "Art Of Lining".

I was lucky enough to get a sweet Goodie Bag from the birthday party; look for reviews on some of the products on the blog in the near future (spoiler alert: I am loving everything).
In the mean time you can check out Quo exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart's across Canada.

ASEphora was having a 15% off week for VIBs this past week.
I picked up an EyeKo Trio of Skinny Mini liners (blue, brown and black) for $23, an Eyeko Skinny liner in Back for a friend (she adores these so much she sent me back for another) for $19. I got Caudalíe Beauty Elixir in 100 ml for $49. Finally I got a Nars Blush in Super Orgasm with 3.5 g for $15 (actually a good deal since the full size is only a small amount bigger and much more costly)
David's Tea is a favourite of mine, I seem to have formed a large collection of their teas over the last year.  My friend Melissa from Melissa's Musings recommended some teas on her blog recently (check out the post here), they spoke to me and to be honest Melissa has never steered me wrong.
I picked up Organic Le Digestif tea (for my post meal full belly) and Mother's Little Helper (org) for my restless nights ( I am crazy stressed out right now and sleep is not something I am getting too much of right now).
I found these at the clear-out section of a Shoppers the other day, $2 each. Since I already have 3 shades I thought I would take the time to get some more.
I finally got my hands on the Quo Butterfly Brush Collection. 8 brushes and a bag. I love my butterflies (papillons).
At Aveda I picked up my favourite hand cream of all time, Hand Relief. Pricey at $28 but worth every penny (can I still say that now that we don't have pennies?). I also grabbed their limited edition Light the Way Candle for $13. Every cent of the purchase price goes to charities to help keep water safe and clean around the world. It smells great too.
Lastly, at Shopper's Drug Mart I got a double pack of Marcelle wipes. I got the Hydra-c Wipes and the I-Bronze wipes in a pack together for just $5 (my shoppers is crazy some times with these deals).

Yesterday I did a bit of hauling at Walmart and Shoppers Drug Mart.
What I got at Walmart:
Marc Anthony Easy-Lites:

I've heard good things about this product and how it works even with colour treated hair. I'm not sure if I'm going to go the ombre or highlights route at this moment. Let me know what you guys think I should do.

Live Clean Apple Cider Califying Shampoo:
Naomi at StylEyes raved about this last time I saw her, as a brush cleanser....I  just had to check it out. I feel this massive bottle is going to last me my life time.
As a side note, this bottle has a rubbery grip to it, so you won't drop it as easily in the shower, what a nice feature.

Goody Simply Styles Modern UpDo:
This pin is supposed to help create great up dos. I'm excited to try it out since I love the corkscrews that they have for buns.

Shoppers Drug Mart:
I had a $50 gift card from Christmas and it was 20 times the points so I knew if I used my $50 I would have $60 in points so I chose to go all out and get the Quo by Orly Gels.

They had a starter kit for $40 that contains:
  • 50 ml of cleanser
  • 50 ml of remover
  • 4.4 ml of primer
  • 4.4 ml of base + top
  • 20 foil removers
  • pusher
  • mini nail file
  • 20 lint free wipes
I was planning on buying that but...it cost more than buying the stuff alone.

They do not sell the lint free wipes, the remover, the pusher, nail file or foil removers on their own, you can only get them in the kit. I thought this was strange because once the initial set is used up you would want more on their own without repurchasing the kit.

The cost of things on their own:
118 ml of the cleanser is $5 - 50 ml comes in the kit, this is much larger and dirt cheap
4.4 ml of the primer sells for $6
4.4 ml of the Base + top sells for $6 - I got the much larger 14 ml bottle for $18

What a price difference, why would anyone buy the kit? Tiny bottles of cleanser and remover that don't cost much on their own anyways.
I figured my own removers with a cotton ball and foil will replace the foil and remover and I have nail files and cuticle pushers.

Anyhow to get it up to the $50 I also got two shades, "It Girl" and "Meaningful Destiny". One is a cute pink and the other  a deep purple.
I then got the lamp, it was $80, I thought this was a bit high but I paid very little when using my points. I will note though Sally's sell a LED lamp for $98 and Rexall for $59.99, so there are many other price options out there.
Here is a pic taken of my first manicure done with it, poorly taken photo at that.
I'm really excited to try out some other shades from other brands, since it is LED I can use the Red Carpet Manicure shades from Rexall, Gelish from Sally's or many other brands that offer a large shade selection.
