Beauty Vixen

Live Clean is one of my faourite brands. It is made with ingredients that work well for me, they smell great and they are made in Canada! When I learned they launched a dry shampoo I got really excited because I just had to see what they had planned.

Refreshes and revives your hair on those non-wash days. Specially formulated to neutralize odours, revitalize and add bounce to your hair. Clear, scalp-friendly formula with no white residue to clog pores.

Features:

  • Made with plant and naturally derived ingredients.
  • Enriched with Certified Organic Botanicals
  • For all hair types
  • No silicone
  • Eco-conscious
  • No white residue
  • 99% plant derived
  • Scalp-friendly
  • Leaping Bunny Certified
  • Dermatologist Tested
  • Hypoallergenic

Live Clean Dry Mist Shampoos come in four options, Fresh & Clean, Tropical Coconut, Lightly Scented and Salon Volume.

First off I want to stress that this actually isn't a dry shampoo, it is a Dry Mist Shampoo, meaning it comes out a bit damp and then dries up. Part of the reason for this is because it is aerosol free. It uses oxygen to propel it. Thus it kind of cascades out versus a strong pooooofff like traditional dry shampoo sprays.
It doesn't contain powders to cause build up on the hair or scalp, making it scalp friendly. Instead it uses Arrowroot powder, Nettle and Witch Hazel to help control oil and cleanse the scalp without needing a wash.

So how do I like it? It is just different. I think that is the big thing to wrap your mind around. I don't have the same expectations, because it isn't the same.  I really enjoy the Salon Volume version because it is gives the most traditional dry shampoo results to me. I adore the scent of both the Tropical Coconut and Fresh & Clean (my faourite for anything Live Clean).
Overall it is a nice change from traditional dry shampoos in the fact it is more scalp, hair and earth friendly. But if you are going in expecting a Dry Mist Shampoo to equal a Dry Shampoo you may be disappointed. I find it really does help me extend the length of time between my hair washing a few days and all without any white residue on my hair, which I really adore.

You can pick up Live Clean Dry Mist Shampoos at your local Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaws, Real Canadian Super Store, and Well.ca

Have you tried Live Clean Dry Mist Shampoo yet? What do you think of it?

Fresh Water Hydrating Liquid Hand Soap 500 ml:
Cold weather mixed with cold and flu season usually means dry hands, lucky for me this hand soap is gentle and creamy and prevents my skin from getting all dried out. It is formulated for those with normal to dry skin so it really is great this time of year.

Cool & Fresh Deodorant:
This is my favourite of all four Live Clean Deodrants, it smells fresh and clean while keeping me dry and smelling great. With none of the stuff you don't want (aluminum,  propylene glycol and parabens) and all the things you do (baking soda, corn starch and 99% naturally derived ingredients) it really does an amazing job.
Fresh Water Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner 350 ml:
*I realized after I edited the photos that I was sent 2 conditioners, that being said you will be sent a shampoo and a conditioner if you win the giveaway*
Dry hair is something no one wants to deal with, as the weather cools it can become something we all can experience. Live Clean has launched a collection of their Moisturizing Liquid Hand Soaps just for the holiday season. With three festive scents, these hand soaps are moisturizing and gentle on hands all while smelling amazing. They also have some pretty cute but not over the top holiday designs on them.

Gingerbread Latte:
I have been joking all fall that Pumpkin Spice season is just warm up for Gingerbread season. I adore Gingerbread and well Gingerbread lattes are a must this time of year. This soap smells just like fresh gingerbread cookies, but with a touch of warmth to it, and it is incredibly potent. I was really shocked at how much fragrance it had. I put this one in my master washroom, and am happy to use it many times every day.

Holly Berry:
While the design on it is full of holly and pine, it is distinctly fruity, which I really should have expected with a name like Holly Berry. I like the scent a lot, it is a fruity scent that isn't too sweet and a bit like cranberries, it is very fresh. Since it is so fruity, I decided to put it in the kitchen for a bit of a pick me up when I am cooking.

Vanilla Peppermint:
If candy canes are your thing then you may love this soap. I love everything mint, it is my absolute favourite scent all year long, so find it in a hand soap is a nice treat. It smells minty but with that warmth, you get from a kick of vanilla to it. It really makes for a great festive hand wash. I put this one in our powder room so all our guests can use it.

All the soaps are nice and hydrating, none of them strip your hands of moisture. They also lather nicly and rinse easily. For about $4, they are a great way to add a bit of festive love to your house without going over the top.

As Always Live Clean is Canadian made and also boosts all these features:
  • Plant-derived, with certified organic botanicals
  • SLS / sulfate Free
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Dermatologist tested
  • Petroleum free
  • Silicone free
  • Paraben free
  • Phthalate free
  • Pure vegan, with essential oils
  • Never tested on animals
  • Package recyclable
  • Biodegradable ingredients
  • DEA free
  • Phosphate free
Do you have a favourite holiday scent?

I'm always on the lookout for a good Canadian made brand and Caprina fits that bill just perfectly. Baised in Quebec, all their products are goats milk based and simply fantastic.
I was lucky enough to be send a few products from the brand, but had already been using it for years, their Goat's Milk Bubble Bath is an absolute staple in my house (I was once told by a naturopath to have a milk bath once a day, I soon learned that a pint of milk a day gets expensive and switched to Caprina and never looked back). Also the Fresh Goat's Milk Soap is by far my favourite brush cleaner of all time, yes my makeup brushes (they will be more on this below).
Fresh Goat's Milk Body Wash with Orchid Oil
This is a creamy body wash, it smells good (light and floral but not anything that I quite find too strong or to recognizable), lathers well and leaves my skin feeling pretty darn hydrated for a body wash.

I find I don't need too much to create a rich lather on my shower poof and that it does a really good job of cleansing the skin without stripping it of moisture. I am definitely a fan of any creamy body wash, but often find they lack in the cleansing department. The strange thing is this does a good job of cleaning and not drying out my skin. I feel it could be because it isn't a full out cream constancy like others, more of a hybrid. Anyways I am loving it. I even ran out and bought the Shea Butter formula, and like it just as much.

Fresh Coat's Milk Soap in Original Formula
This was the brands first product and apparently also their best selling, and I can see why. I love this soap, and I do not like bars of soap. It is true, both Mr. Fox and I hate to use bars of soap, but neither of us dislike this one, not one bit. I do find this odd, I can only equate it to the fact it is so moisturizing.
My favourite thing to use this bar for though is to clean my makeup brushes. I learned long ago that I perfer a solid to clean my brushes with, and while there are expensive versions out there meant just for your makeup brushes (some even with goat's milk in them) I love this simple and cheap (I usually can find it for under $2) bar to do the task for me. It does the job of cleaning ridiculously well while not stripping your brushes or frying them. It kind of cleans and conditions in one go. Plus it is cheaper and easier to find then the versions meant just for your brushes. I truly love the results and have been recommending it to my makeup artist, blogger and addict friends for years....it just works so well.

Body Lotion with Shea Butter
I feel this lotion was meant for me. I don't know how else to say it. I love to use it on my dry and chapped arms and I always love how it smells and feels when I do. Lightly scented, super hydrating, fast absorbing and not sticky at all. Sometimes lotions are just too runny and watery for me and I end up using heavy body butters, but come the summer I just can't take the heaviness anymore, which is why I love that this formal is a bit thicker then most lotions but still ultra absorbable. Mr. Fox even has been commenting on how soft my skin is lately, which is a major bonus.
Caprina can be found at most drug stores, grocery stores (I buy mine at my Metro), mass retailers and sometimes if you're lucky a dollarama.
All of these products come in three scents/formulas listed as well as Olive Oil and the bar also comes in unscented, which is really great. I love the Shea Butter the best, and it is really all about the scent (but I do like them all).

Have you ever tried Caprina products before? Do like to use products with goat's milk in it?

Hylamide is a Canadian skin care brand that specializes in multi-depth hydration. While most brands focus on only hydrating the top layer of skin or the deepest layer of skin. Hylamide is different because it doesn't just do one type of hydration, it hydrates the top, middle and deep skin layers, leading to multi-depth hydration that really works.

Their Slogan is "Skin care for every depth of your skin" and I have a feeling they are pretty serious about that claim.

So today I'm taking a look at their SubQ Eye Cream and SubQ Anti-Age Serum.

SubQ Eye Cream:
Described as a Serum Concentrate, this is a cream-serum that is a bit thick but almost instantly absorbs into your skin. The ingredients and their purososes are quite long so I'll just attach a friendly little list to make it easier (because I am not that technical when it comes to these things).

    • A Flavanoid Glucoside Bio-active - To reduce visible darkness under the eyes
    • A Darutoside Complex - For a lifted upper lid appearance and reduced visible sagginess
    • A Waglerin-1 Peptide Complex - Shown to reduce the look of dynamic lines around the eyes
    • Nonapeptide-3 Retino-Complex - A novel technology that promotes better visible anti-aging results than Retinol with less irritation
    • Flourinated Perfluorocarbon Complex - An extraordinary technology that offers visible tightening of the under-eye area both immediately and in the longer term
So yep, this stuff has some crazy science behind it, and it shows, because it works and it works well!

Are my eyes less puffy? Yep. Are my eyes less dark? Yes. Are my lines less wrinkly? Yes indeed. Are my eyes hydrated, even though it is winter? Yes they are! Am I finding them less irritated? Heck yes!

So yes, I like this stuff, I love that it thick, that I can use it on my top eyelid, that it helps we just about every eye issue one can think of and it isn't irritating at all, I haven't woken up with with dry or puffy eyes in months. Oh yeah, it really hydrates well, which is a major issue with me in the colder months.

SubQ Anti-Age Serum:

This is a incredibly light serum intended to rehydrate your skin and reduce lines. What isn't to love about that? Filled with hyaluronic complexes and next-generation peptides it targets rehydration below the skins surface wile it improves lines, wrinkles and sageness of skin.

    • Copper Lysinate/Prolinate - Next-generation Swiss technology targets multiple types of collagen for overall improvement in visible skin health and visible skin age
    • Nonapeptide-3 Retino-Coplex - A novel technology that promotes better visible anti-aging results than Retinol with less irritation
    • Next-Generation Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 - Advanced form of Matrixyl (TM of Sederma) helps to reduce the look of lines, wrinkles and surface irregularities
    • An Antarctic and Hawaiian Algae Complex - To promote renewal and help prevent moisture loss
    • Next-generation skin binding glycoprotein for increased active exposure. Advanced binding agent optimizes skin exposure to active technologies for a boosted effect
    • Contains five forms of hyaluronic compounds to target multiple depths:
      • Ultra pure, non-animal-origin Hyaluronic Acid targets surface hydration and elasticity
      • Two forms of very-low-molecular Hyaluronic Complex absorb quickly to target below-surface rehydration
      • A novel Hyaluronic Acid pre-cursor helps visibly plump skin
      • A tamarind-derived plant hyaluronic form offers immediate rehydration
This winter has been pretty darn rough on my skin, but surprisingly since I  starting to use the SubQ Anti-age it hasn't been uncomfortable or super parched.  I really can say the multi-depth hydration is working for me and my dry/dehydrated skin type. My skin also feels nice and plump, which as I am now in my mid-30's makes me very happy.

It is also super thin so it just gets sucked up into my skin so quickly that I can move on to my next skin care step in no time flat. Which makes adding this step to your routine effortless.

Here is a look at the eye cream on the left and the serum on the right. You can see the Eye is thicker and slightly creamy, but it still retains a serum consistency. You can also see the Anti-Age is very thin, which makes it absorb so fantastically well.
If you're in the market for some new skin care to deeply hydrate your skin and is full of incredibly active ingredients, I am going to highly recommend that you look at these two products.

Have you tried anything from Hylamide? What do you think of their multi-depth hydration concept?
