May feels like it finished before it ever began. I feel like this summer is going to fly by.

Here is a look at what my May looked like:

Summer Classes:

My summer classes have started. I am hopefully going to just as great this time around. They are still 100% online without actual classes. It is all self taught.

Door Open Toronto:

Doors Open is a fun weekend where places that aren't normally open to the public can be toured by the public. In 2019 we did a 1910s school house near us. This year we went to the The Ismaili Centre and the Aga Khan Museum, and the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre.

Both were really interesting. The JCCC had demos and explanations of many activities they do there, as well as a history museum and an art exhibit.

The Aga Khan had free tours and viewing of their gallery as well all their theatre. There were quite a few pop-up art events going on too, such as musicians.

We had previously done the museum and done tours there, so we mainly sat and had coffee and looked around before heading to the Ismaili Centre.

There they told us about the building, the history of the Ismaili Centre in Canada, let us see the prayer room and facilities. We couldn't take photos, but it was gorgeous.

Gardening:

May brings gardening season. We went to our favourite nursery and got tomatoes, herbs, celery, Boston lettuce, iceberg lettuce and Swiss chard. I'm very excited for my garden this summer.

Royal Botanical Gardens -LILACS!!!:
Burlington and Hamilton have the Royal Botanical Gardens. Their Lilac selection is one of the worlds largest and most diverse. My aunt and headed out there during peak lilac bloom-age and walked around. It was fantastic! I love lilacs and getting to see so many, lush, large, blooming, beautiful shrubs was amazing. So many colours, so many scents.

Speaking of Flowers:
I took a lot of photos of my property and its blooms in April and May. Our townhouse property just has so many large older trees that bloom. Mainly pink and red crab apple tress but also other flowers I am less familiar with. I just took so many photos.

April flew by and May is almost over. I tired my hardest to get this recap done sooner, but my computer was acting up, and I just got it some new ram today, hopefully I t can give it a bit more life.

Here is my April Recap.

Exams and a Break:

First up, I am still in school. I had exams and final projects due in April, so I got those done. I got super stressed about a project, but got perfect on it, so that felt great. I also had two group projects, that royally sucked. Why do they always suck so much, and why do I have to get the same grade as people who honestly don't even the work right? Anyways, I got 3.8 GPA, which makes me excited, I only had my one grade dragged down by group projects, so I am still a bit bitter.

I also took care of Bradley's wife, Sophie and got a few weeks off at the end of the month before classes start up again.

The Eclipse:

The eclipse that happed, didn't really happen in Toronto. Right as it was going to start, it got real cloudy. We did get the fun experience of it getting very very dark in the middle of the day though. We also went to Krispy Kream and got their eclipse donut, which was very tasty.

Anniversary:

Rich and I celebrated out 24th anniversary in April. We went to a Hot Pot place near by to try out for out date. We have never got for Hot Pot before, and went to Hot Pot 9. It worked off a QR code on our phone and the staff explained nothing to us. The food was good, but we were incredibly clueless. We didn't have ladle or bowls, it just was a bit of mess. The staff also vanished. We couldn't figure out where to pay and weren't given our final items ordered because 20 minutes past and the staff was just gone. It was strange. We wont return there, but we like the idea of hot pot and want to try a few other ones in our area.

We then went to Mr. Puffs for desserts. They have such fresh puffs and I really like their dipped ice cream.

Volunteering for Earth Day:

Earth day was in April, my neighbourhood had arranged for a clean up. I spent 4 hours picking up trash and saving it from going into the Don River.

Volunteerring for NudeStix:

Last year I went and did garbage clean up with NudeStix. I had a great time and felt good about it. THhs year it was downtown Toronto. We went to park and cleaned what we could up.

After the two weeks of cleaning up, I am really thinking about volunteering with an organization that isn't too far from me to help clean up the Don Valley area at least twice a month going forward.

The Lisa Cosmetic Sale:

The Lisa Cosmetic Sale is a favourite of mine, I go twice a year with my mom. This is the go to place to get fragrances, discontinued or gift sets. They have the best prices!! They pretty much sell the fragrances that have been taken out of stores to keep their in store stocks fresh as well as past gift with purchase or gift sets. They also have a lot of great makeup and other things.

I didn't get much this time, but I may get more at their Xmas sale.

Burt's Bees 40th anniversary pop up:

for two days in April Burt's Bees has a pop up in Toronto. I got one of their new lip balms, a skin care item of my choice and cupcake. I also got to learn all about their skincare.

Drive-In:
Rich, Bradley and I went to our first drive-in of the season. We saw Kung-Fu Panda 4 and Ghostbusters Frozen Empire. Both were better than I thought they would be, and we had a fun family night out.

L'oreal Stand Up Pop-Up:

L'oreal had a pop-up in April (I went to this the same day as the Nudestix garbage clean up and the Burt's Bees pop-up), to help stop violence against women. It was at the Stacks Market.

I wathced a little video and then took a little survy aimed to shut down agression to women in places like the subway. It was a noble idea. At the end I got to pick an item. I chose their hair gloss. I really am excited to try that out.

Ajax Collectors Con 2024:

I might not have mentioned it, but Rich collects Transformers toys. In Jan and Feb we went to a few mini conventions. In April we went to Ajax Collectors Con, it was the first one I've gone to Ajax. It mainly had the same vendors and is a fun thing to do for the day.

Nudstix and Knix:

I went to the Toronto Airport area to go to a Knix and Nudestix sale. I got such good deals on products. I mainly bought a lot of Nudestix that I really wanted. Knix is new to me and without change-rooms it made it a difficult challenge to make final sale choices. I ended up with 4 bras, and dislike 3 of them. Which honestly serves me right. I think it is 100% worth while going though if you already know what you like from the brand.

So that was my April, lots going on and I had a good time. Here is a photo of Sterling to leave you with.

Hi everyone.

I haven't done a recap since I quit my job to start school in January, I didn't feel I had a lot to recap for a while. I put it off and I put it off some more. Now, I feel Jan-Feb-March makes a good quarterly round-up. So let's take a look at how my year has been going.
January

January was interesting, I didn't have to go back to work and I had some time to myself. This also happened in the new year of 2021, because of a lockdown. I got a bit of stuff done around the home, but as always, never as much as I would like.
I messed around in my office trying to set up a good workplace since school was completely online. As a result, I moved a lot of stuff out of my office and into the spare bedroom, and I also tossed a lot of skincare and gave my niece a bunch of makeup and other goodies.
I got to spend some time with my friend Jenn as we went to Fresh to eat. I got an Impossible burger. I don't know why I hate regular hamburgers, but the Impossible one tastes good to me.
Bradley and I went on a ton of walks. January was very mild for the time of year, and then it got a bit snowy in February. For the most part, it has been great walking weather. Our biggest dilemma is finding interesting routes to walk as a lot of the paths we like to walk are under construction for the next two years.
School started the second week of January and I had a lot of hiccups. I have never done online school before and wasn't sure how it would go. I didn't understand the school's method of doing the classes and it was just confusing. To make things worse two of the classes didn't have textbooks available through the school, so I had to order an ebook version from the USA for the same cost but would expire after 180 days. This actually really pissed me off, the school just forgot to order the books for the students and left us high and dry.
Once I got the hang of things everything seemed to go well. I did not enjoy doing group projects, it was made worse being online. I just do not understand why they put us through this in school.
I did a Target haul through Shippsy. I am probably going to dedicate a whole post to Shippsy because I love it so much. Basically, I get a USA shipping address and I order items there. When the time comes, Shippsy deals with the customs and takes it to a warehouse where I pick it up. It's super cheap and convent.
We mainly got candy and food, but I also got these cute birds and some skincare.
February
We did a Food Share order and got so much great produce for so cheap. I learned shortly after they were shutting down the service, so we only got one more box after this one. But all this was under $30.
I went for Family Day to the AGO with my aunt and brother's family. We saw the Kaws and Keith Herring exhibits.
Richard and I went with my aunt to the Canadian Opera Company's production of The Cunning Little Vixen. Never has an opera had my name written all over it like this one. It was vibrant and funny and just overall a stunning visual performance.
Best of all I got to go with my aunt, who got us seats at the Royal Box. This is these are the best seats in the house. Like really, I am not exaggerating, they are the best seats at The Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. My aunt actually helped build it back in the early '00s. In fact here is a podcast where she talks about it, Key Change: Episode 6.
After the opera, Rich and I went to Eatly for Winterlicous. We got some yummy food that was great for rounding out the fantastic night.
March
March was a lot less interesting, with lots of walks, and more meals out at local places around us. I mainly spent my time doing schoolwork and taking care of our friend's dog, Sophie. Here is a little Bradly photo dump and Rich looking at menus at various restaurants.
We got some good news at the end of the month, and I wanted to celebrate, so I ordered a Ninja Creami 11-in-1. I have not stopped using it, but look at this pretty fruit bowl I made.
I hope you enjoyed my recap. I really hope you had a good first quarter of the year. I am looking forward to the spring and all the fun things it has to offer.

Last Christmas I was lucky enough to receive a gift card for the Toronto Bite Lip Lab from a co-worker. Located at Queen St. just west of Bathurst, it is the home of Bite Cosmetics that lets you create your own custom Bite lipsticks.

I had a wonderful artist helping me named Natalya. She started by asking me if I wanted to do their Bespoke or A La Carte lip services. I discussed that my gift card was for two A La Carte lipsticks, but I wasn't sure if I should splurge on the upgrade. We decided that since I was looking for two specific colours I should get the Bespoke, so I did.
I brought along two lipsticks that I wear a lot, cost a lot and would enjoy something like them that I could use daily and feel a tad less guilty about. They were Tom Ford Boys & Girls lipsticks in the shades, Bradley and Richard, a muted warm peach-brown and rich pinky mauve respectively. Now, these Tom Fords are tiny little lipsticks that cost $44 + tax each, so I figured I would probably end up flying through them if I didn't find something similar that I liked just as much soon.

Before we began mixing, I was given some of Bite's lip scrub to scrub my lips and some of their lip mask to hydrate.

We first started with trying to get something that resembled Bradley, essentially a pinky or peach nude that would look good on my skin tone. The first thing that then happened was a cellophane sheet came out with grids on it. The artist then applies a shade from many concentrates that they have to a select number of cubes on the sheet. The colour and its amount get written down and this happens a few more times until the artist feels they have the correct mixture for your shade. They then mix them together in the middle and a small amount of your desired base (I chose satin) gets mixed in and you have a chance to try it on.
a snap of my final mixes. The shades I chose have hearts next to them. Sorry about the quality, using my cell phone camera.
I did not like the first attempt at all, which was fine, the artist and I discussed what it was I thought it needed and mixed some more shades and tried again. Surprisingly, the second shade was spot on. I just adored and decided to go with that. The process went really quickly because I wasn't trying to exactly match my existing lipstick and because I had a good idea of what I wanted it to look like. We then started with the second lipstick. I decided I wanted something more oranged nude, kind of a spicy shade. This one took three tries!
While the artist writes up my custom recipe for my lipsticks I was asked to smell some flavours and decided on which ones I would like to use for my lipsticks. I chose mint and citrus for mine.
My mixtures got made into little jars, melted and then spun in a centrifuge. Then once mixed they were poured into a mould and put on an anti-griddle (like at cold stone creamery). We then waited and I chose the names for the lipsticks. I went with B-Rad for the Bradley type lipstick (my dog Bradley's nickname is B-Rad) and Vixen for the spicer fall shade.
My lipsticks got engraved and come in the same magnetic packaging with a flat cap as Bites Multiple Sticks.
Overall I really loved the process. I got two custom lipsticks I think really suit my skin tone and because they are shades I really like I know I will use them a lot. I always find I get nudes that are too brown or too pink or heck too pale, so getting a pinky one made that suites me is one of the best things I could hope for. As for Vixen, I love that it is spicy and just a tad bit orange with makes it great for the fall.
I also got a cute little mini lip kit which has a mini scrub, lip mask and primer because I got two Bespoke lipsticks made. The lipsticks and the kit were wrapped up incredibly nice in their own boxes, bite lipstick tissue paper and a gift bag.
In the end, these cost $150 for both and the kit, making them $75 + tax each. It wasn't a cheap time, but I did get to spend close to an hour making something just for me and got two great lipsticks out of it. I would definitely do this again, in fact I plan on taking my aunt when she gets low on her favourite discontinued lipstick shade.
My finished lipsticks.
My entire purchase ( I also got a lipstick from the store).
Have you ever visited a Bite Lip Lab? What shade of lipstick would you make if you went to one?
